You are correct. This was announced a few weeks ago and is just now taking effect. It is in response to the tanking British Pound due to Brexit. Microsoft is a US company, so they have to make currency adjustments as the value of currencies change.
This one is not really Microsofts fault. If you gotta point a finger, point it all of the Brexiters.
It's good to see publishers actually have a sense of humor!!
I think it is pretty obvious what Microsoft's play is here. Yes, it CURRENTLY is an "option", but here is what they will do. When the new consoles are launched the One x's will be discounted to create a mid level machine. The old One S will be discontinued, to be replaced with the diskless model. This helps continue to drive digital and subscription sales for Microsoft.
That's how I see it at least.
Lets just call this what it is. Microsoft has a lot of back stock of One S. They are basically re purposing it in a different package and trying to move it before the new generations launch. The S will be phased out when the new systems launch, leaving to new mid and high end systems and this one for the bottom end. That's all it is.
I just use Microsoft Rewards. Takes me about 5 min a day to rack up the points from the website and doing random Bing searches. Just doing that earns enough for Game Pass, plus some other things as well. Also get points if you buy from Microsoft store.
I've been gaming since the days of the Atari 2600, and have played games on anything but easy or normal. I have no problem with hard games, I just don't play them, they frustrate me and that is not why I game. The fact is that there are a bizilion games out there for all types of players. So, if you are concerned, just don't buy games on launch. Find out what the game is all about, and if it doesn't sound like it is for you, don't buy it.
The Souls...
So funny!! People who post in the comments section who don't even read the article. So indicative of society today. Everyone wants make sure that their voice is heard FIRST that they don't even bother to learn anything about what they are commenting about.
For those to lazy to read, the article is about the most evil "FICTIONAL" corporations in video games. So EA, being a real life "evil" company did not make the list!!
I'm an OG Xbox owner all the way through to the One X, and this article just sounds like troll clickbait. Gonna just pass
That's pretty much the only useful information in this article!! Thanks!!
I think Microsoft may be in the best place to weather this storm, as it sounds like Google wants to do exactly the same thing Microsoft is looking to do. We will just see who does it best. Either way it seems like those 2 will have a leg up on everyone else.
Great article! I had kinda forgotten about this, and you are right, it is basically free money!!
I just don't understand all of the console drama. I play on an Xbox OneX, mostly because way back in the day I had an OG Xbox. PS4 is also a great console, there are advantages and disadvantages to both, that's why there is a choice. To me, it's kinda like Apple and PC, or Iphone and Android. They both accomplish basically the same things in somewhat different ways. Personally I stick with Android and PC, mostly because that is what I have always used, so it's easier for ...
Great points. Battle Royal games are ruining gaming in the same way that social media is ruining society
Twinfinate...I'll take the click bait hit!!

This is exactly how I feel about RDR2. It is really a love / hate relationship. I too am afraid to play it because of what I might miss, so I end up missing it all. It is definitely a game I will hold on to, and enjoy playing, it's just the anxiety!!
As someone who just doesn't have the time to put into games that I used to, this is perfect. I will still buy a few games a year, but this keeps me engaged during the time between these big game purchases. Maybe not right for everyone, but a good value for me.
I'm on a promo plan now, but plan to keep it even at the $10 a month price. It's the cost of 2 games a year. I get more than that amount of value out of it.
Very underwhelming!
Total waste of time. Click bait!! I was going to post the list, but it wasn't even worth it.
It's really no different than the "cola wars". Is there really that much of a difference between Coke and Pepsi? At the end of the day they are pretty similar, but pretty much everyone has an opinion on which is better. Same thing.
I think the point that while Microsoft loses money on some games by doing this, the idea is that people will stick around. They are in the process of building a subscriber base, and that takes time and there is a cost of acquisition involved. Even if someone subscribes just to play one game that only takes a couple of days to complete, they still get the opportunity to poke around and maybe decide, "it's just 10 bucks a month, why not." it's how they got me!!
