Disappointing, yes. I wonder if a more powerful chip was supposed to be in it, but the chip shortage made it hard to do? Maybe Nintendo is just dividing their already ordered Tegra X1 Mariko chips between the Switch and OLED Switch. Oh well. Either way, disappointing.
Agreed. But on the other hand, I’m hoping Sakurai can take a long and much needed rest, even if it’s to work on other projects. I’d like to say I’m being sympathetic, but deep down I know it’s because I want him to start work on the next Smash Bros entry. 🤭 I can guess the Switch 2 is being talked about at this point and is 2-3 years from release. And for once it would be cool to have a smash game as a launch title.
This got to me. I thought I was keeping my expectations low when I just expected a full priced, up rezzed OoT 3DS remaster… but Aonuma outright said they weren’t doing any Switch games for the 35th.
This is a “shut up and take my money” moment for me. The nostalgia alone is enough. I have so many great memories of playing Toadstool Tour with friends. I always thought it was crazy that they never released a Mario Golf on Wii. Glad they finally have a new entry coming out.
@ABizzel1
Is Xavier not capable of DLSS? I don’t know much when it comes to tech specs. Since Nintendo typically doesn’t do cutting edge tech anymore, I was thinking that this September/October would be an Xavier based Switch Pro, and then holiday 2023 being an Orin based Switch successor. But I really think Nintendo wants to slap a 4K sticker on these new Pro models (via DLSS) for marketing purposes. Is there no way Xavier can output 4K then? Also from what I’ve heard, thi...
Well I’m hoping the OLED isn’t the only upgrade for that price. Personally, I only play my Switch docked. So the new screen would be wasted on me. I’m hoping for the (again, rumored) new Nvidia chip that will be capable of DLSS so I can play current Switch games in 4K and/or 60 fps while docked. From what I understand, that’s the only way a portable SoC could output 4K games while not being insanely expensive or power hungry.
Rumors are suggesting a $350 or $400 price for the new model.
I used to play Mario Golf games with my dad. So glad they’re bringing back the series.
Can’t wait. Day 1 for me.
I guess I don’t understand what Nintendo deems “high” or “low” priority remakes/remasters. WindWaker HD and the Links Awakening remake, IMO, deserved the full price tag. There was obvious work put into these. I can almost understand the All Stars pricing. Minimal remaster effort, but three games in one for $60... okay. (I do NOT agree with the timed release though). But then you have Skyward Sword, with the bare minimum of enhancements, being sold at $10 higher than the original. I just can’t...
I’m a life long Nintendo fan but this just makes me mad. I have issues with their pricing methods. I’m willing to bet that this is the end of the 3 pack, but they’ll probably split them up on the eshop for... I dunno... $40 for M64, $50 for Sunshine, and definitely $60 for Galaxy.
I really have no idea what Nintendo will do for it’s next gen (not a Switch Pro refresh, but a new console). I mean, if they were to do a Switch Pro refresh this fall, what if they came out with a dedicated home console in 2-3 years, that is BC with Switch games, and keep some development for Switch as a dedicated handheld? Treat it like the 3DS? Nintendo wants to milk the Switch success, and understandably so. But it’s showing it’s age as a dedicated TV console. IMO, it’s still plenty powerf...
I take it you’ve seen this fan made Paper Zelda?

This would be pretty cool, tbh.
I’m thinking it will be like Mario’s 35th. Announced in September for the holiday season. My personal prediction is that it’ll be tied to the November release of the Switch Pro (if Bloomberg is to be believed). Anything we get will be announced/released then. I’m expecting the same we got for Mario: a timed release for a Zelda “all stars” remaster (OoT HD, MM HD, maybe one more), and hopefully BOTW2. If I’m being greedy, I wouldn’t mind some of the older top-down Zelda games like the Oracles ...
Aaaaand I’m stoked. 😃 But as a lifelong Nintendo fan, I know it’s wise to reign in my expectations. 😂
I’m expecting a Zelda pack like Mario All Stars, for Zelda’s 35th anniversary. I’m just hoping the included games are the latest versions, like OoT 3DS (upscaled to HD) and WW WiiU HD. I’m curious what they’re going to do with Phantom Hourglass. I know it’ll probably be a low budget remaster, but I’m hoping at least for updated textures and resolution for the DS game.
For the sake of good old fashioned competition, I hope Microsoft sales are 3rd because of supply constraints. I was kind of expecting Nintendo to be last, since this is a launch comparison, and Switch launched in March, while Series X (and PS5) launched during the ultra busy holiday season. Microsoft being 3rd kind of caught me off guard. Still good sales all around though.
I don’t think it would be so bad to turn Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort into a continuing franchise. The Wii isn’t around anymore, but we still get New “Super” Mario Bros, which the original “super” was based on the Super Nintendo console. Nintendo tried switching it up (heh) with 1-2 Switch, but that wasn’t nearly as big a hit. I think if they did an HD remaster of Wii Sports, or a new entry in the “series”, it would have immediate name recognition and would pull in some casuals, as well a...
Female link? No.
Zelda as a protagonist? Yes.
I’m all for inclusion of lgbt, minority, and both (all?) genders, but make it tell a story. Don’t do it just because. I loved Super Princess Peach on DS (even though they relied heavy on female stereotypes: “her emotions are her powers!”). They finally got Peach off her butt and made her the main. I would love that with Zelda. She’s always been a super powerful sorceress or something similar, and I’d like to see a game based off ...
That’s what I was saying yesterday! A lot of reputable websites were reporting this 4K upgrade, plus on the handheld side, Nintendo has 2 instances of more powerful hardware refreshes: DSi and New 3DS. I really feel like back in 2020 any memos about Switch Pro specs that may have leaked to the rumor websites included this DLSS 4K upgrade. But that would have required Nintendo to order new chips, against what I can only assume is an already standing order for the X1 Mariko chips. The order for...
