@Wiz
It’s incredibly hard to get a Switch OLED without giving in to scalpers. ☹️
True that Switch was more readily available than SS/SX and PS5, but don’t downplay it. This is the 5th Black Friday for Switch, and it’s still selling outstandingly. That alone is a great accomplishment. Not to mention it’s going through it’s own shortages. It took me almost 2 months to get my hands on an OLED.
Regardless, it’s nice to see all 3 keeping competition alive and selling well.
Just picked up mine at Best Buy today. Loving it so far.
I’ll be contributing to Switch sales in 8 days. Finally snagged a Switch OLED from Best Buy to be picked up on the 30th. 😀Glad I held out and didn’t give in to scalpers.
Well depending on whether this is a Series X supply issue or not, maybe Microsoft is taking the Nintendo route? Nintendo has been making underpowered (but creative) hardware for years now, and still have turned a pretty profit. Maybe Microsoft wants in that market too?
I really hope they use Nvidia Orin for Switch2. I still think the screen will be 720p, maybe 900p at the most, to keep power down in handheld mode. But I hope they find a way to up the wattage in docked mode while keeping the system cool. Then I think Orin can push out some 1440p graphics and let AI upscale the rest to 4K. (Pure speculation of course).
Or up the wattage while docked while still keeping the system cool. Orin is a pretty powerful chip (I’m assuming Nintendo will use it since it comes out early next year), but it needs juice to push out those graphics.
I wonder if the next few weeks of sales will make up for their lower year on year sales for 2021. 2021 may be even better for Switch than 2020.
Expected, though I really thought the ps5 would overtake it that week. I’m curious to see what bump the Switch OLED will be. I can’t find an OLED anywhere.
Yep. Couldn’t help but notice that too.
Mischief Makers!
@lex for what it’s worth in that context I agree with you. I’m a huge Nintendo fan but I draw the line at their “no price cut” policy. Maybe now that all updates for the game are done, sales will taper off and Nintendo may have an incentive for a price cut, but I’m not holding my breath.
For people who are disappointed, Wood from BeatEmUps really put it best in his reaction vid: “Sometimes you need to realize these characters (reveals) aren’t for you, individually.” The best part about having a huge roster is that somewhere in there is a character that you like due to nostalgia and/or fighting style. Good for people who like Sora. This is their moment. ☺️
“I never said it was incomplete.”
“70 bucks of add on content to be a complete game.”
🧐
I swear during the presentation they said that some of these n64 games would have online multiplayer. If that’s true then sign me up.
Most important to me was when they said that select games from the n64/genesis will have online multiplayer. I’m assuming Mariokart 64 will be one of them. That’s pretty cool.
Bayonetta 3 update… maybe?
I like to consider myself “woke” and “liberal”. But “putting your own spin” on Norse mythology… wouldn’t that be a form of cultural appropriation?
But the last two iterations, of handhelds anyway, had performance boosts: DSi and New 3DS. With the Switch being a hybrid, that does set some precedent.
@wiz you’re definitely right it’s not a necessity. I play handheld a lot so I got it. And I only was able to snag one because I was a part of that “total tech” program at Best Buy that allows members to get first dibs on new inventory. I refused to pay for an OLED thru the scalpers. Until that time tho everyone at GameStop/target/Walmart just laughed at me when I asked if they had OLEDs in stock.
