They’ve been saying this for almost 3 years now. I know for the sake of sales and investors they can’t say “it’s at the tail end” but still. Come on. Unless of course they plan on still manufacturing them for a few years even after the successor comes out.

Question of the year right here. I’m actually playing FE Heroes right now just to tide myself over until the next main FE game.

Switch will turn 5 in March. I’m kind of hoping Switch 2 will launch fall of 2024, so it can have Nvidia’s Atlan chip, but that’s just me.

I don’t know about Sony or MS, but Nintendo is having it’s biggest release year of core titles since since 2017.
Pokémon Arceus
Bayonetta 3
3D Kirby
Mario + Rabbids
Splatoon 3
BOTW 2
Now what does “biggest” mean here? Is it sales? Reviews? System sellers?…. File size? 😛

Top 5 achieved! I’m certain it will pass GB and PS4 to get #3 by the end of the year. But the top 2, DS and PS2, that all depends on price drops and when the Switch 2 is released. Also depends if they continue production of Switch after the next console’s launch.

I was watching Spawnwave’s take on this and he stated that with this acquisition Microsoft went from 6.5% to 10.7% gaming market share. (Info from Reuters) Hardly a monopoly if accurate.

I wonder if the scandals dropped the value of the company so much that MS decided to buy since the price was right.

Same.

Totally unrelated question, Magog, but I have a friend who’s kid was born on April 20th 2018. Can you tell me how old the kid is? I’m curious what your answer would be.

@ Master: Rule 34 comes to mind. Also any ga(y)mer who is into muscle bears. 🙋‍♂️

I really enjoyed DK 64. I definitely buy a game like that again.

I was always confused by Nintendo’s decision to kill the franchise. “Super” stayed with Mario titles even after the Super Nintendo. They can still use the Wii name. Hell it’s been so long that releasing a new one, or even an HD remaster, will tap into that nostalgia market.

Although, personally, I would love another Fire Emblem. It’ll be three years this summer since Three Houses came out.

That’s what I was thinking. They have a LOT of hard hitters coming this year. It reminds me of 2019 when they had a flood of new games, and then 2020 was kinda barren by comparison.

Even if there’s no more revisions or price drops, it’s guaranteed the #3 spot behind DS and PS2. If there are revisions/price drops, all bets are off. Congrats Ninty. 🥳

“Tickling the taint” 🤣
Thanks for the laugh. And congrats to Nintendo. With all the games slated for 2022, I’m hoping it can keep the same sales momentum as 2021. (2020 sales are too much to hope for, IMO)

Well both Switch and PS2 are/were very successful, and are in the 100 million club. Now people just want to see who got to 100 million first. 🤷‍♂️ I believe Switch beat the PS2, but don’t quote me.

As to roadkiller’s question, the PS2 had looong legs after PS3’s release. A lot of 3rd party Wii games were also ported to or from PS2, so there was still money to be made, and developers jumped on that. As far as numbers go, I don’t have the data. Just my memory of vgcha...

Please release in the west as well. 🙏

Between Gamepass “eating” some potential sales and Nintendo not releasing digital numbers, I wonder how important these numbers truly are anymore, at least as far as rankings or bragging rights go.

@rock Don’t quote me, but I think the Tegra X2 was the top of the line low-powered SoC when Switch released, but Nintendo went with X1 instead.

My prediction is that the next Switch will have an Orin based chip. The low-power NX version is slated for Q4 2022 release, so I’m betting on a Q1 or Q2 2023 release for Switch 2. That would make it 6 years after the OG Switch release. They kind of have to use an Orin SoC at this point. The next best chip, Xavier, is almost 2 years ...
