Not to disagree with what you said, but these scores are not being given out by "gamers" though. This is merely 100 or so people who gets paid to give out their opinions.

It's a circular argument they use to try and trap you by bringing the focus to only one specific time of the year.
It doesn't matter how clear a picture is on a TV, if you zoom in and focus on one area only, you can then confidently say that the picture is pixelated to death.

If you remember at the time before the consoles were announced, Sony let everyone believe that the PS4 was only going to have just 4 GB of RAM, and at the last minute changed it. They also let everyone believe that the PS4 wouldn't be announced until 2014 at the earliest, Because the PS3 had just surpassed the Xbox 360 in total sales and was profitable.
