I can't speak for everyone and claim that no one is trying to downplay it. There are clearly those who will and have tried to. I will never truly understand how a community can simultaneously decry remakes/remasters while making Halo MCC one the XBOX One's highest selling games.
I will also never understand how Phil Spencer can say that they will not charge gamers for games they already own, announce BC and Gears of War ultimate edition at the same conference.

XBox One gamers HATE remakes/remasters, so why would FFVII remake be on that console?

No, the reason to buy the PS4 is that it is factually a more powerful and game focused console than Microsoft's Xbox One. It has released about 100 more games than the competition in the same time frame. Adding to it is the fact that the PS4 has continued in the long tradition of the PlayStation brand of offering "extras" besides just gaming.
At some point, guys from either camps are going to have to stop playing the "victim card"...

I'm not underestimating the impact of BC for the XBox, I'm merely putting it into the right context. The XBOX 360 wasn't really known for it's exclusives beyond Halo, gears, forza, and fable to a degree. It was known as the de facto multiplatform shooter's console, and the "Play it first on XBOX 360" console. It's biggest franchises, Halo, Gears, Forza, and Fable are released almost on a yearly or every other year basis.
There's also another way to look at it.
When Sony fans and fanboys were saying how detestable the practices of securing time exclusives and stuff of that nature were, you guys were not having any of it. You guys praised MS for doing it, and created the whole "Exclusives don't matter" slogan that existed for the last 3 years of the last gen.

I had yet to offer my 2 cents on this issue, so here I go.
First off, let's understand one thing very clearly. On it's own, the XBox One's BC is a good thing for XBox One and XBox 360 owners. Meaning that if you're looking at it in a vacuum without any causes, but just the effects and impact it will have. The issues only flare up when you take this great news for the Xbox Camp, and try to use it as ammo vs Sony and the PS4. We can get into that later.

I'll agree with you oe one of your points though, there IS no integrity in the gaming media. But that lack of integrity hugely benefits Microsoft.

There is a distinct difference between being critical and "hypocritical". And yes, I am arguing that MS is worse. And no, I'm NOT arguing that quantity is better than quality. I'm arguing gameplay + variety vs graphics, in which GT5 trumps Forza. If having standard cars is a problem, then why on Earth are more important gameplay that Forza lacks, like night racing, dynamic weather, snow, rally, NASCAR, etc are not several knocks agaisnt it?
#1. Sony releases more games a year than Microsoft.
#2. Sony is supporting 3 platforms in the PS4,the PS3, and the PS Vita.
#3. 50% of a larger number IS still more than 50% of a smaller number, let alone 40%. I can't believe I actually have to point that out.
#4. I always read about on here how Microsoft has so much money vs Sony themselves which can't even afford to drop the price of the PS4 etc. Yet Microsoft with all of this money...
Does anyone remember when those Oculus Rift guys were going around "concern trolling" Sony with Project Morpheus? They we all like:
"Oh we don't mind Sony getting into VR, but we just want to make sure that they take their time and do it right so that the VR doesn't get a bad name."

There has been 304 games released on the PS4 so far, and the about 10-15 of those games are/will be remasters. So in other news, Sony is relying on 3%-5% of the total number of games being released on the ps4 now? Lol get serious for once.
The ps4 has almost 100 more games out than its nearest competitor with 304 games vs 215. It has doubled the number of retail exclusives compared to that same competitor with 34...
