haven't played 3 yet, but anyone who's played the PC version of 1 knows that very few open world FPSes can reach that level... 2 was so far down it was bad.... even if 3 is twice as good it's not as good as 1

You're not to far off... but the Xbox 360 uses some slightly lower variant that the X1300 uses... if I'm not mistaken... it's really hard to remember all the info from 7 years ago... has it really been 7 years?
The Xbox 360 GPU is based on the same tech as the X1300 (a step down if I'm not mistaken). Microsoft owns the rights to the specific model... it's obviously not a desktop version, but it was based off of a desktop version that got released around the same time as the 360. Oct of 2005 if I'm not mistaken...

I use it's features every time I turn the system on... my GF loves Kinect games... I love it's functionality as a voice controlling device. Supposedly the next one will be able to identify individual voices up to 4 or 5... that brings up some interesting games...mostly party games off the top of my mind, but assigning a voice... also "always on"... could I turn my system on with my voice
true... to a point, but there are some limitations put on Kinect to make it more feasible to produce for consumer level

It's likely that the 500 dollar mark is about right... add a subscription plan you could maybe drop that down to 300... 2 years 15 dollars a month for XBL Gold... you end up paying more for the console though. I wouldn't mind them doing something along the lines of what T-Mobile is doing with their phone plans... perhaps you'll have to watch ads or something and once you pay off a certain amount then you lose the ads and so on and so forth
rumors are all we have to go on up2013, but yes they seem to point that way. I think it will be a business decision for Sony. They are (allegedly) leaving behind the Cell.
the price point and how it's handled may really be what separates this generation from the next... Sony could easily copy Microsoft's payment plan (and really they probably will go pay to play online) This will allow a lower entry point for buyers... Not a bad deal to be honest

Cliffy has fame and fortune, but he didn't make it over night (and lets not confuse him with some celebrities... he can walk down a city road). The guy hit it big with Gears, but it was something that happened over time not all at once like lotto winners. The crunch time of Gears put a tremendous amount of stress on his relationship... I don't want to some how trivialize the problems that come out of that, but you compound that with money issues and even the best of couples will event...

maybe he feels pigeonholed? That gun made him rich and is probably one of the main reasons he's still with the woman he loves rather then her off with some other worthless dude. It's easier to work through your issues when you're not worried about the small stuff like bills and getting back and forth to work with your 300 dollar car.
Microsoft may not be afraid of that top end price... they can lower the entry fee with subscription rates.
