Because they do not sell enough copies on Xbox. They know they won't sell...so they take the lump sum assuming they'll make sales on PlayStation.
This is a win for Xbox but it isn't sustainable across the board. Devs wouldn't want to not sell coins of their games.
Because Microsoft is paying for that.. they're essentially taking advantage of the smaller titles.
Some of these titles could be successful on their own and make a ton more money than on Game pass but they get no advertising and they get a lump sum through Game pass. It's less risky for them and that's why they do it. If they can afford to make enough money to cover costs and pay all their employees and make a small profit then it's worth it for many of them...

So do you think that they should buy studios to make those games? They've always had RPG support and the whole point of first-party studios is to give the platform what it's missing.
In Sony's case they're actually adding to the industry by dealing with genres storytelling that is normally absent in the gaming industry. It has made a comeback and there are more storytelling games and linear games that there was before but for a long time Sony was the only on...
Except at the same watt usage for battery life steam deck excels and there isn't much difference at all. Last I checked the deck outperforms at low power usage.

Did you know that people that pirate games have the same reasoning as you just had for Game pass and purchasing after using it on Game pass? People on PC can get gamepads access for free every month that they want to subscribe.

Instead of pirating it I get to play for free with Microsoft edge. Somehow the feeling feels almost like I'm pirating the game except it's legal. I'm not sure that's very interesting it almost feels like a joke.
Really changed my buying habits I know for certain I will never need to buy another Xbox game studios game.
My god if people disliked what happened with cyberpunk they would have butchered Fable one and two if they knew what was said about those games.

One game at a time. If it's good...doesn't matter how big it is. You can always beeline through the story in most open worlds.
Got a few more daughters and same situation. Sometimes I do spend more time reading about games than playing but I'm about to enjoy my 1-3 hours of tears of the kingdom. Focus on main story but no rushing. Not like I got to get a review out.

Geez I remember when banjo kazooie was coming out me and my siblings would talk about how big the levels were going to be.
The size was entirely correlated to the content in each level.
Now we definitely have a bloat problem.
