In spite of increased competition from a resurgent Nintendo and a revamped Sony,
In spite of the notorious RRoD, and all of its negative publicity,
The 360 had a good year. The games are there, and the 360 could pass the original Xbox in overall sales in eighteen months (or less).
But Nintendo's captured the family and casual crowd, and Sony's got some great games coming in '08.
In order to have another great year, MS needs to:
The drop-off in 360 and PS3 sales can in part be attributed to the fact that they were both pretty scarce the final week before Christmas. I mean, my Best Buy store even sold all of our Halo and Arcade editions.
One question:
How old is that 360? If it's a pre-Falcon, then yes, it could conceivably generate that much heat. (My pre-Elite models were blast furnaces).
Second point: They have the console on its side. That causes the system to generate MORE heat (two blocked vents on the side, more surface contact that allows greater heat buildup).
Countdown to the inevitable screenshot comparison p!ssing contests...
Insert random Wii joke here...
Oblivion
Assassin's Creed
Blue Dragon
Simpsons Game
Orange Box
That's just what I have now, and doesn't count what I'll buy during the year.
How many times have we heard this rumor?
As much as I want this game on my 360, until we get official word from Konami, count me as skeptical.
Jeez. For that price, they should at least include a tube of Vaseline.
*Applause*
Good points. It's sad to see crappy ports, bad sequels, awful movie tie-ins, and shovelware sell better than good games.
Happy New Year!
Sweet. Bring on the online pwnage!
(Happy New Year!)
Agreed. Good points.
One man's opinion. Take it as you will.
Personal opinion: 8.5 out of 10. The flaws are there, but the gameplay more than makes up for it.
Interesting list...the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Worth mentioning, one from each company:
Lair's screwy controls;
Wii's overload of shovelware;
STILL no HD on the low-end 360, and the high prices of 360 HDs
That video is a classic. And that was pretty much the same as my reaction when I unwrapped my NES. I believe the term "joygasm" sums it up. :)
NPD please.

Well, if I can't have Ratchet on my 360 (sorry, but I like that game), then this looks like it might satisfy my desire for a fun action-platformer.
After that, Rare, can we pleeeeeeease have Killer Instinct 3?
That was...titillating.
Never say never...it could still happen...but I think that this may very well be one of the last great console exclusives.
We've heard that MS has worked hard to keep BioShock a 360 exclusive. Don't be surprised if Sony does the same with MGS4.
