I took that to mean that the story and events in PT had nothing to do with Silent Hills, but the actual gameplay does.
Why else would they have gone through the trouble of even doing this elaborate teaser for Silent Hills if it had absolutely nothing to do with Silent Hills?
That in itself makes no sense. Its like releasing a teaser for a movie that shows a totally different genre, actors and scenes than the final product. It would serve no real purpose. ...
Look at Diablo.
Literally, all you do is run around and click on enemies over and over again. There are no missions in that game at all aside from get through the level, kill this monster, collect what he drops, then take it back to town.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Diablo and have been playing it since the original. But why does that get a pass? The whole game is a monotonous grind, yet it gets a near perfect score from all of these same review sites?...

There's no way you can possibly know that. On these threads alone, it seems pretty much split. There are people that love it, and people that hate it.
I've had a rough time telling which side has more, because it seems pretty close.
But something else you have to consider is the fact that people tend to go online and bash things they don't like versus people that do like something.

I think people forget that when D3 first came out it, it got hate much like Destiny.
Now look at D3. After a couple years of listening to their fans, its now a damn near perfect game.
People just seem to think that Destiny can't do that too for some reason. The funny thing, is Destiny isn't even really anywhere near a 6/10.

I have about 4 buddies I play with. They are all friends in real life, so we all talk during missions and everything. Seriously, send me a friend request and you can join up with us. There's usually 2 or 3 of us playing at nights.
There are way too many people that love this game for it to be considered a letdown, and then compared to completely terrible games.

I've only really used it to look up my grimoire cards. The app is much better for that than trying to look them up online.
Clearly the biggest problem here is that you seem to think that people claimed the GAMEPLAY would change. Thats never going to change, my man. Its a firat person shooter. The gameplay isn't suddenly going to change.
What changes are the things you can do. But you'll never know because you aren't giving it a chance.
