I see no one has mentioned fear effect!
That game was assume and needs to be put on PSN now! I want to buy it and play it on my PSP.
This is a good, well written article that asks some basic but fundamental questions about the JRPG genre and yet noone sees it as thought provoking enough to even comment on it? Does noone have opinions beyond who has the best system or which version of a game is the best?
Well, not to sound like a hypocrite here is my 2 pence worth.
I agree with the articles point regarding JRPG developers. They can't win whichever way they go but I think it's even more complicate...
Did anyone really expect a 2010 release for this?
I thought it was generally accepted that it would be a 2011 release, probably around April because Resistance 3 would be released this Christmas. This, in effect, would mirror what happened with Resistance 2 and Killzone 2.
Anyway, this is my prediction, we will see if it happens that way.
I thought they fixed the ever expanding bubble list bug, but Bungie_is_back seems to be proving that they haven't. I thought he/she/it only had four bubbles.....
I shall read that as sarcasm.
This article is purposefully against the grain, a different point of view.
Look up "counterpoint". It's a musical term.
I think they still like the game but they are just trying to see the other side of the coin.
On my to buy list. I have a feeling I might enjoy this more than FFXIII but you never know.
was TR:Legend 4-6 hours? To do it in that time (esp. 4hrs) you would have had to ignore all the secrets and had it on the easiest difficult.
At moderate difficulty and searching for a moderate amount of collectables I would says it's anywhere from 8 - 12 hours. I don't even remember reviews complaining about the game length.
I hate it when websites talk complete crap! Grrr

right?...............RIGHT?!
I find myself agreeing with a lot of his points. Is that wrong? Am I a bad person for that? Or for thinking that the dumbing down of Final Fantasy into popcorn RPG is a sad step backwards rather than forwards?
I like this Final Fantasy and do enjoy it, but I think it pales in comparison to the Final Fantasy's of old.
this is only for the Americas region.
I thought genesis was a guy?!
In the west we have western developers making western style games. And now, we have have Japanese developers making western style games *cough* square enix *cough*. The Japanese element to this game will make it truly unique and different to western audiences. For me, it will be a complete selling point rather than put me off.
I don't know how people couldn't smile and laugh at some of the brilliant Japanese quirks in Yakuza 3.
Yes he didn't mention the differences between the 360 and ps3 versions but he did state what he did and didn't like about each aspect of the game. Quite a lot of his points did echo other sites as well which shows that there are at least some universal gripes with the game.
"Perhaps, a different device in the future will fill this gap in! Oh, sweet competition!"
iPad competition = notion ink adam
ipod competition = htc desire/nexus one
Both of the items above will have complete flash support
There's going old school and then there's just completely rehashing what you have done in the past. The move to 2D I agree with but if you do that then make is the best 2D you can.
I really liked the idea, when I saw it, of a level looking like this:
http://orioto.deviantart.co...
Proper shiny rings, great textures for the trees and grass but fast game play and all in 2D...
Resistance 3 will be out for this Christmas so this game will be pushed out to early next year so as not to compete.......wait.....haven't we seen this before somewhere?
I actually quite liked TR legends, the first by Crystal Dynamics. It had some great set pieces and the new gadgets were fun. The only thing that really bugged me was the rope mechanics. I got stuck on one part of the game where Lara was meant to grab hold of a rope but didn't!
That isn't bad. Usually games that claim 60 hours include random exploration time. But as this game is linear, according to you guys, then that means most of this time is plot/main story driven which must mean that that this main story is huge!
Is my logic wrong?
I really like story driven games so I will probably really get on with this game.
with all the JRPG's trying to "reinvent" or "reinvigorate" I think I might like a new old-school JRPG story and setting. This might actually feel more refreshing.
