"I am glad we're getting fully remaked crash game from Sony and Acti."

Can't seem to find it either. :/

It's free-to-play b/c it's free (up-front cost) yet has microtransactions to be funded. I know I sarcastically rebuked what Digital said above, but we still have to call a spade a spade here. It is F2P, but that doesn't mean it has an insidious F2P structure that mobile FF game. It depends on how it's utilized.

You mean to tell me they didn't spend resources on simply making a free game, but rather a free game...with micro-transactions included?

The lengths some businesses go knows no bounds, I tell ya!

For a game that's done pretty well--financially--you seem to highlight how badly "the haters" tarnished the game's reputation. Haters aren't what stops a sequel from getting funded; money is the determining factor. Since they've done pretty well on that front with a fresh IP, Sony's really the only one to blame.

"I truly believe it suffered from the so called console war."

That's the nature of anything getting...

You leave Until Dawn out of this!

Other than that, not a bad collection name. :P

Much appreciated. As you can clearly tell, I took the red pill. ;)

Although a part of me would like to exclusively focus on that--and pat myself on the back in a self-aggrandizing manner for discussing this previously, I don't think that's a monumental reason. A strong ancillary one? I'm willing to believe so. But there's a lot of factors to consider:

-The totally different direction they went from Human Head's Prey 2 (plus Bethesda's crappy treatment according to HH devs)
-Pretty insubstantial marketing...

Incorrect. The time for WHEN they're sent may differ, and which sites may get the copies, but early review copies is the norm.

-"Their motive might be for profit but not in the way you think. No early reviews means no leaks, no chance of code being pirated in advance."

No, there's still an easy chance for code to be pirated in advance still. Broken street dates are also still a thing. You state my arguments are compelling, admit the part of my argument in this move being 'for profit'...then add two other dynamics into this discussion that:

a.) Aren't r...

I must've missed the meeting where 'baseball game' REALLY meant 'licensed mlb simulator.'

The fact that the writer doesn't even give a mention to the Super Mega Baseball series is a sure sign as to how little research has been done. The Show & RBI Baseball are not the only ones.

"Do you get mad at movies not allowing early reviews too?"

Whenever that does occur? It does strike me as a sure sign it won't be any good. Why do you ask it like that? Early screenings for movies (especially at film festivals) is a common practice in the film industry.

"Wait a day, a week, whatever and you'll get your answer on whether it's worth it."

As I brought up in the blog.

-You mean as I already had within the blog and the link to the N4G comment section that inspired this blog? Okay, I guess I'll break this down categorically again. For starters...

"...if you can explain to me how buying when you feel comfortable with your purchase is somehow anti-consumer."

You're setting up a strawman here. I have to ask again: have you read the blog and perhaps also perused some of my links provided? Never am I ran...

Demos and Playable Alphas/Betas are fine things too. But depending on what's in those previews, I've often worried those bits of the game have to be the biggest highlights, causing me to question whether or not such quality will hold up for the entire game or if that variety will be seen throughout. At least in a review, it's out in the wild for people to assess and discuss openly without having to deal with "that'll get patched" type of attitude.

-I mean...now you're kinda confusing terms here. We're talking about an official company statement being spread to the general public (i.e. PR); at the same time, it is fact that waiting is a thing people do. Can we please move on beyond the simple principles like "you don't HAVE to buy it" yet? This is why I called that part of Bethesda's post a bromide. It's such a overused, simplistic statement that really adds nothing to the reasoning behind this review p...

*continued response (accidentally hit post but had to edit frantically and couldn't include this in time)*

-"here you can see a graph of how little reviews actually matter to consumers"

I had linked the full report in the blog. While I do consider the research quite handy, there's more nuance to this than Breitbart (*sigh*) is letting on. For instance:

"Happy to see I am the inspiration to this piece and will be waiting for my royalty checks in the mail."

Aw shucks! >:(

And I still stand by what I said about how that's a myopic assessment here. Just b/c other ways of information exist doesn't suddenly mean it's not anti-consumers. A publisher artificially and intentionally has stacked pre-release buzz in their favor.

"...ways to inform yourself over ga...

I appreciate the response. You and I seem to have some parallels on when to pre-order. Though the method's been pretty much ditched by me when it comes to AAA games and more indies or physical releases of previously-digital-only stuff I may have played a little bit of somewhere else.

Now I don't mean to put you in an uncomfortable position, but I can I still implore you to reconsider that when it comes specifically to Prey? Consider the following:

Okay, Bethesda had a laughable bromide ready for my concerns in their press release. So what? I know I'm sounding condescending, but you're starting off with Bethesda's PR as a response--which I'm familiar with. As this blog's already shown, I'm more interested in their actions. Sure, they can say 'oh be sure to be careful with making a pre-order' but that's just spin. If they really were so nonchalant about it then why put a certain sliver of content ...
