@Genova84
I disagree, but then I'm obviously biased.
I think there's plenty of merit in looking back at older titles and evaluating them in a more modern context; things like Steam Sales, Humble Bundles, and the rise of the second-hand market, as well as stuff like Virtual Console, Games with Gold and PS+ means that older games are just as relevant now as they were at the time of their release, and enjoying an influx of new players.

"I think reviewers have to review the game in thier time and space. We don't live in a vacuum"
Surely these statements are incompatible?
Oh, you.
I like bricks.
You like bricks.
So let's all enjoy bricks together.
You like bricks.
I like bricks.
Minecraft lets us build forever.
Well we post them every week, and they generally actually do very well for us :)
Maximum scores don't mean something is perfect. There's no such thing as perfection.
Glad you feel like that.
It's fair to say that, as the Editor in Chief of CP, our philosophy is genuinely "by gamers, for gamers", rather than acting - either unwittingly or by design or legal bindings - as an extension of the publisher's marketing department.
That often means our scores don't align with many other sites, but that's fine with us. We don't want to simply echo the consensus opinion, we want to provide a genuinely h...
Reason 7 isn't stupid at all. The writing really is awful. Go back and play it now, and the story is a complete mess filled with deus ex machinas. Plus the fact that you play as a bunch of terrorists - and are directly responsible for the death of thousands in the opening act - really sticks out like a sore thumb.
For every female protagonist in gaming, there are a hundred male ones.
"BUT not all genres appeal to both genders"
I disagree with this. I know lots of female gamers who love FPS games, MOBAs, RTS games, etc. I think this is part of the problem - there's an assumption that because certain genres are associates with typically masucline traits, it means that women don't like them too. The author of the article, for instance, is a big fan of all sorts of games.
Just because a gamer is female doesn't mean they ...
Being the first to be successful isn't the same as being the first. The Virtual Boy may have bombed, but it was still the first home attempt at VR.
They missed the biggest one - console DLC. (Look up the satellaview).
They were releasing downloadable expansions way back in the 8-bit era.
My personal thoughts are that it's extremely brave for someone to openly discuss mental health issues in this way, let alone from a female games writer.
If only more games writers had the balls to open up in this manner.
Those doll achievements were a killer.
I never actually played this. Might have to pick it up on the cheap.
It's certainly interesting. There's a definite "The Secret World" vibe about it as well.
hahahaha seriously?
Dear god, what a stupid reason for not wanting a game. "Oh no, it has a load screen! Preorder cancelled"
All of these build mode details were revealed months ago.
Looks interesting! No mention of the business model though. I'm assuming free to play.
Destiny isn't bad, per se; just competent.
But when you're Bungie, "competent" doesn't cut the mustard anymore. In some regards, Destiny is a victim of Bungie's own success.
We actually debated the score extensively inside CP towers. The consensus was that it's... OK. But it just made us wish we were playing Halo instead.
