Guys, bear in mind that at the moment these are just allegations, and Sarkeesian hasn't had the chance to put her side of the story across. We've reached out to both her and Smith for further comment, and Smith also acknowledges that it's possibly a misunderstanding in her open letter.
I'm aware that Sarkeesian is something of a controversial figure, but "innocent until proven guilty" and all that. Let's not start running for the pitchforks JUST ...

The characters are fairly obscure, but then so are many of the characters already in the games - Calendar Man, for instance, only appears in a small handful of comics in the entire Batman history (which is nearly a century long).

It's still a good game. Whether or not it's a good Resi game is another matter entirely; but games should be reviewed on their own merits.
Some of the comments highlighted there are disgusting and the people who made them should be ashamed of themselves.
Just goes to show that the gaming community still has a long way to go before it will be taken seriously or granted any sort of respect by the wider mainstream culture.
FF XIII was a weird one... it took about 50 hours to actually get going, but once it opened up it was surprisingly satisfying.

That's actually a decent idea.
Sadly that means the publisher/developer needs to employ a translator to go through the script and localize it, often at a steep fee.
And it still means they have to submit the game to the relevant country's authorities for approval, which again costs money...
Sure, it would be cheaper than employing a voice cast and pressing the physical disc, but not by as much as you might expect.
It's an opinion piece guys.

This sounds crass, but we are currently working on a permanent series of articles looking at all aspects of gaming culture - gaymers, silver surfers, gamers in the third world, etc. etc.
I sincerely hope that you agree that what we are working on is a subject worth discussing.

Yeah it was such an amazing game.
Without defending the way he reacted, there's no denying that Fish was the target of a pretty concentrated campaign of abuse and unpleasantness.
I hope that someday he decides to return to the industry, because Fez II really deserves to get made :)
