the thing is people who want a media player wouldn't immidiately think of the PSP. This to most people would still be a gaming device, hence 'Play station portable'.
The last time I saw film UMD's being sold was in a game store.. with the games.. but if they manage to send it in this online store direction, the PSP will be a more viable purchuse, and get known as a media player.
I think it will do pretty well eventually.
Besides the DS is a gim...
until you start seeing games that won't work without a hard drive. It's been done before (n64 memory upgrade).
It's such a powerful brand now. Most people have no idea who ken is, alot of gamers really dont care about the industry.
My mate's gonna get a PS3 for Pro Evo, and GTA IV. I told him both are on the 360, but it makes no differance he will get a PS3 when the price drops, until then he'll stick with his ps2.
reguarding Nintendo aiming at children.. people say this all the time. but the franchises aren't all that childish, f-zero, and metroid don't scream children....
? I assume all that was a joke. Dragonball analogies were particually far-fetched.
Reguarding the article. PS3 will do well in the long run, but the price is a massive factor. I've got mates who will get a PS3 eventually but really have no money to get it. they will eventually get it but stick with their PS2's until then.
Personally I think the wii will last a bit longer than most of you assume. The adoption rate in japan means that games will be made for it.
Was really surprised that sonic wasn't on there. GTA III number one? you can do whatever you want in the first GTA aswell. Infact I got enough money to leave liberty city by barely doing any missions.
Mario was 13!? madness.
although it must be hard to make a list such as this, I really think that there are some massive problems with it.
people are so used to the evolved control system we have today, that new elements such as motion control seem un-needed to conditioned gamers. But 20 years down the line who knows what will be the standard. My guess is nintendo wont let this idea drop too soon.
But I think downloaded content should be cheaper than the physical equivilent.
It's a bit of a shame that some people who may have never played these games but might have given them a try on VC. Final Fantasy is a big name and thus could lead to impulse buying that wouldn't exist otherwise.
Aiming to make audiences on these platforms. I guess thats an advantage of nintendo taking this route.
Releasing the wii mote could have been disasterous with next gen overheads to worry about, Specific content just wouldnt get made (bar nintendo first party).
This bloke founded atari, however the crash happened after he had sold it to Warner communications (time warner). He was forced out of atari (1978) due to management dissagreements, and didnt play the part in Atari's monumental mistakes (such as expecting ET to sell to over half of all Atari owners).
Other Early Atari workers split off to make Apple computers.
people should just go play this game again. I did recently, and it was great. Personally I would rather see a remake of chrono trigger, or ff6.
People forget also seem to forget this wasn't just on the PSone but the PC aswell, maybe a remake would be the same. I think remake's serve the people who have never played it better than those who have it, some gamers won't accept a classic unless it's in shiny packaging.
was great. Bar the fact that the stick ALWAYS wears down with use. You could creep on mario 64 without having to hold a walk button that was common at the time.
the Wii-mote is fine for games. however much people like to say the controls for zelda were 'tacked on' i think that it plays really well by the time you get into it (30 mins) the wrist flicks are natural and instictive, and the Aiming with the wii mote is really good, just like a mouse cursor.
Seems like alot to pay for games you can get on the GBA and PSone.
The new LG player that supports both formats with only one disc slot?
was on the gadget show last night.
Seems if people are that intrested in Hi Def they should consider that, it's a safe option.
personally I think that many people will go 'wow' when it is released. Mario 64 lasts not because it is some graphical masterpiece it soon got out done by other games on the 64 (as it was a launch title) and pales by todays standards.
But I bet that most people who enjoyed it could go back to it now and enjoy it again. Reason it lasts is the amount of control you have.
The player has loads of control over mario in that game, and i think that is what will 'wow' pe...
Seems like it might be a bit of a classic mixing the familiar mario elements with 3d views, lob that into an RPG with some no doubt challenging puzzles and im guessing this is gonna be one to get and remember.
by the looks of things. The view flipping is a brilliant idea.
It's not like the nintendo and sega camps are that different anymore.
if it were done well this could be pretty cool, suits the wii remote.
My mate showed me the cube one. Looked like something I would wanna play.
but by the sounds of it this it's an action RPG, and an amazing one at that. the fact that their virdict was "this is one of the best games we've ever played" speaks pretty highly for it i think.
I'll definatly pick this up.
if mature (violent) content is availible for it, consider it a 'mature' console. however it's not very mature to not enjoy a great game because there is a lack of blood, violence (anything else considered for adults even though 11 year olds enjoy it most).
when I was 9 or 10 best new game out was mortal kombat.. why? Because kano ripped out some blokes heart and showed it to him before he died. you play the first mortal kombat and it pales in comparisson to street fighter on th...
it's in to response to a question about making games for western audiences.
I think people are forgeting how creation works. a bunch of musicians might be in a funk band but that doesn't mean they couldnt play rock, or classical. Same applies for art, writing, and anything involving ideas.
One creates what they prefer themselves, however could still imitate and add to other styles.
@bitbydeath
yea i thought that, but i think alot of games r...
