It was just so that people understood it was set in the future. Nothing else.
My most important concern is not the used games. Is the borrowing part.
I have 75 PS3 games and I have bought all of them new, but I have shared a lot of games with friends. Sure, MS could come up with an idea to sell or trade games with a partnership with Gamestop or whatnot.
The problem is if someone wants to share the game with a family member, a friend, a roommate, etc. For me that is the biggest issue.
Specs are more important than the looks of the console. If they had showed a beautiful console, but had specs like the Wii U it would have sucked. I liked that they secured gamers with the specs and features, because then, the looks don't matter that much.
I don't think is hard to predict the conferences at this point. Just look at what has been announced.
SONY
- Bungie announced that they will show Destiny gameplay
- Sony will unveil the PS4 console
- Square Enix will announce the new Final Fantasy (or reintroduce FFV13).
With those three, that's 30 mins of the conference.
We might get inFamous Second Son gameplay too. The first 15 minutes will be about the fe...
I can't believe there are still people defending these practices.
@Pintheshadows: Square Enix will be there announcing a "new" Final Fantasy (confirmed) also Bungie revealing Destiny gameplay.
Hopefully The Last Guardian will be there.
Everybody is skeptical about that, and that is the reason why a lot of people think that Sony will also implement some kind of DRM for used games. There is no way EA will let anyone play a game without paying some kind of DRM fee. (At least that's what anyone with common sense and logic will tell you)
This is a ridiculous topic.
1) It shouldn't exist in the first place
2) Since it does, I don't understand all the secrecy. It's not like...
Love the fact that the paper cover doesn't have the Xbox brand but instead is painted on the box itself. I wanted PS3 games to be like that, so that the covers would look clean, but never happened.
The PS4 boxes though, look like they will be a bigger version of the Vita cases, but the same size as a BR box.

Kintect: .....................
Both the PS4 and Xbox One will cost the same. The Xbox comes with Kinect, and the PS4 will come with a headset and most likely 1 to 2 TB HDD.
Both will be $499, but I believe that Sony will have another cheaper SKU with a low HDD. Microsoft on the other hand can make the rumor true about having a subsided (sp?) console.
He didn't ask because they guy said that they will comment on how that works at a later time.
OK, say you don't have to be always online. However, in order to begin playing a game you must be online because the Xbox links the game to your profile. If you are NOT online, then you won't be able to play a game. .
AFTER you link your game to your profile, THEN you will be able to play offline, IF they actually allow that (which that part is not very clear yet).
If every game has to be linked to your profile for sure it has to be online to be able to play it.
Microsoft is acting as is everyone has the same internet technology that they have at their campus or in the best parts of Japan. If they really want to sell this console worldwide they need to figure something out. There are a lot of countries that have very bad internet or no internet at all, and if they don't allow people to even play an offline game (because it has to i...
What i understand is that no. As long as you two are in the SAME Xbox you can have one game used with multiple accounts.
if you and him had their own Xbox, then if you install it using YOUR profile, when lending the game to him. He either plays the game with YOUR profile, or he has to install it using HIS profile but PAYING a fee.
The way this world is going, not for long my friend. Not for long.
But it's not only the used market. If I buy a game, why can't I lend it to a brother, sister, friend, roommate, etc. Someone might share one Xbox in a household, but there are other times when each person has their own, and MS is blocking them from sharing a game.
Downloadable games might be different because they obviously download to your account directly, but we are talking about a physical disc. If they start to even control the physical stuff, what's waiting...
I don't think the games are the problem, the games will come sooner or later. People obviously felt disappointed when Microsoft focused more on an All-in-One device instead of a gaming machine. However, what is really upsetting everybody is what has been confirmed about used games, some-kind-of-always-on, and having kinect required for the Xbox to function.
EDIT: About used games: Microsoft is not understanding what gamers want. They confirm that people will be able to g...
This is ridiculous! I shouldn't have to sign into MY account to play at a friend's house on HIS Xbox, and I shouldn't have to pay a fee if I borrow a game from him to take it home.
If I purchase something, I should be allowed to do whatever I want with it. Companies don't like it, because they want to sell more, but that is not their jurisdiction. They can only have better marketing to improve sales, but forcing people to buy their products should be illegal. ...
But they also said that they want more sequels, faster. So that sounds like Activision business model.
I agree that they need to let fans know more about the games they are making. After all, they are the ones who purchase their games, not the media.
