For the PS4 I will gladly pay $499 US dollars at launch, for a premium edition with lots of extras.

No kidding. I just got a ps2 slim for $50 and I love it. I had some games like Persona 3 PES, Okami, and picked up a few more for around $5 each. Great addition to my collection!
I wonder if we'll be able to use the PS3 to play PS4 games, if you have both systems.

I took the time to read your comment and and you are correct.
People throw around a lot of terminology, but very few PC games use more than a few gigs of ram unless you are playing at some absurd resolution or on multiple monitors.
For 1080P gaming on PS4, if devs work directly with that architecture, and fully utilize most of that 8GB GDDR5, then the results will be mind blowing.

Yeah! The recent announcement that it doesn't have always on DRM and I can play MY games offline solidified the deal for me.

Yeah! Being able to play games offline as well pretty much guarantees that the PS4 will be a day one purchase for me.

This is nice provided they have a dedicated program for for my laptop/pc (linux/windows) as well as my other devices.

You are probably correct about it being the best combo and remember that devs will actually be able to take full advantage of that 8GB DDR5.
