It's not laughable, it's subjective, much like any review.
We based our opinion on the state of the game via the 6gb (assuming the day one) patch that was recently released. If we were to base it on pre-patch, the score would have been much lower. Though, why would we discuss or judge its issues that early access/day one buyers wont witness?

Look, I totally understand that it's not for everyone. I've made no excuses for it since launch. I quite like it, yes it's empty and yes it's lacking in diversity, but it is a good game. The expectations that have yet to be reached is that many (myself included) expected more, much more.

Great list, but Rare really needs to think ahead before throwing in fixes. Take, for example, the ship spawn distance increase. This is neat for those that don't want to be killed time and time again, but mostly only throws victims further away from their destination in the process.
Do I enjoy having to travel for ten minutes, to be killed, to then have to travel another fifteen minutes, just to get to the island I need to get to, only to bump into that same ship again...

The problem with games like Sea of Thieves, and by that I mean a canvas that needs to be built on, is that content needs to be dropped at a fluid pace. Look at how Bungie has butchered Destiny, a game that has a fascinating world and some truly jaw dropping design. Content is few and far between, and as a result, the player count has dropped quite harshly.

Quite surprised that with MW's campaign already remastered, and MW2's incoming, that they didn't just go with a full-on campaign trilogy remaster, minus the MP. I'd have paid full retail for that.
The game is decent, and I'm really glad it's doing so well. But to brag it's the best selling NEW first party IP this gen... hardly stiff competition now, is it?

Totally agree with you, the concept is amazing. Rare really needs to build on it and pad it out. The lack of structure and progression is the biggest letdown for me. There's a lot to do, but outside of stature and appearance, you never feel like you're working toward anything. Becoming a "Pirate Legend" should amount to more than expanding the wardrobe and pleasing three ...

It's not full-on exclusive. Even MS state that it's a console launch exclusive. Pointing to the likely fact that it will at some point arrive on other platforms. I tend to overlook the voting system here either way. You can post some pretty nasty stuff and get more upvotes than anything, and post some genuine info or perspective and get downvoted like to hell. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Still, I loved these games in the day, as did many others. It'd be a shame to see them gated to Xbox and PC.
The devs recently tweeted to say that there is no news for a Switch version but went on to say that "it would be cool", which is better than a full on "No". As for PS4, I recall them once saying that they were evaluating the platform.
Either way, it would be nice to see these released across the board. They're classics.

I believe the devs have stated at one point that they were evaluating a PS4 version. Plus, it makes sense, with such a large player base.

Crabs, spears, drums, guitars, rowboats, scar/tattoo editor, two peglegs; I doubt all of that will be included on May 29th, but I'm interested to see what it brings.
Regarding the new AI threat, I don't think it's a megladon. It appears to be a Killer Whale, it has a blowhole on the back of it in that animation. Plus, Merrick (the pirate) is the Captain of the sunken "The Killer Whale" ship. So it adds up. Time will tell..
