People are highly upset because at the beginning of this generation Sony sold the PS4 to gamers saying it uses "Supercharged PC components" and that it would take developers years down the road to reach its full capabilities. We heard about Project Morpheus in the first year of the PS4 and now this Project Neo has surfaced and seeing as how we know how Morpheus and Neo relate to one another. It makes one think that they had this planned from the beginning and just didn't want to...
In that regards the Neo should be free to all current PS4 owners that wish to upgrade!
At least Nintendo put most of their 1st party titles on the console before the successor is released. Sony got you guys to purchase a PS4 for certain games only to find out that those games still haven't come out yet and will look and run better on the Greatness Awaits Neo!
The Neo doesn't have bandwidth to provide 4k gaming and the cpu is still trash!
People need to do research on what it's going to offer before they set their hopes to high.
You also drank the kool-aid it seems!
People actually believe that this upgrade is going to be some high-end system, I guess just like the original PS4 was as well...
Most people here would say that Nintendo should charge only $250-299 for a system that completely out classes the PS4, while Sony can charge probably upwards of $500-600 and they'd be willing to pay that plus their right kidney... That's just the mindset of social gamers these days!
The Neo gpu isn't close to a GTX 970 and the cpu is the same as the PS4 just faster...
I think most people's opinions about what Nintendo should do with the NX sound like a merry-go-round. We already know that Nintendo has solved many of the issues that were plaguing the WiiU and 3ds, but of course we aren't going to see or understand them yet until they unveil the NX. Not to mention most people don't have much vision at all to understand or contribute anything revolutionary to gaming! If you ask most mainstream gamers what Nintendo should do, they would say just ma...
Well you can get back to me after awhile to see how much these games have actually sold by the end of the year... Truth is neither one of these games are going to reach anywhere close to PS4's better selling games, let alone the top selling PS4 exclusives that everyone claims but nobody plays!
Your comment is going against everything Sony is rumored to be striving for! If this is the new direction for Sony consoles, the top end spec will never fully be taken advantage of with games because they must have a connection to the base model. This is one of the reasons that high end graphics cards haven't just ran away with exclusive games, because it would completely isolate the systems that couldn't run these games.
It was to colorful of a game and many didn't give it a chance because of that alone! This game wouldn't have done much better on the the PS4 either because of those same popular beliefs.
I actually hope that Microsoft doesn't do anything upgrade and just waits to provide a true next-gen Xbox. Even if they make a more PC like Xbox Next, that would mean parts of the device will be upgradeable from the beginning instead of buying a whole new box that has similar parts to the previous.
Well you won't get it with this upgraded console!
Just look at most of the 4k graphics cards used on PC and look at what CPU they are paired with and the memory bandwidth of these cards.
After the PS4 Neo, Sony probably isn't releasing a PS5 in 2018! They are pretty much making their beds now with this upgrade system...
Why does everyone believe that the PS4 Neo will be using Polaris?
Sony wants to ensure compatibility with no issues, why would people think that they would use a gpu that's from a completely different family of chips and is designed fundamentally different than the older gcn cards.
The one good thing this will bring is for those of us that only wanted a PS4 because of UC4, the market will probably flood with used PS4's selling for cheap!
There are absolutely no rumors about Microsoft doing this currently and It sounds like Sony is going full steam ahead on this. Sony fans were defending that DRM was just a Microsoft thing and Sony would never do that to gamers. So because there is only rumors about this coming from Sony we should do the same!
Still I don't understand the lack of upgrading the CPU! This was easily where the PS4 suffered the most and it's quite baffling to throw the hardware balance off like this.
Here's the main thing that I don't get about this revision and it's from a business since. Generally when a slim model is introduced, the hardware is shrunk down and it costs less to produce. So how long does Sony plan on having multiple PS4 and PS4 Neo APU's in production for? Are they going to make a PS4 slim as well? I don't think many are even considering this at all, but Sony is the only one using these chips and it's really not feasible to Sony to keep multiple d...
Your comparison makes absolutely no sense whatsoever! If Sony wants to release an upgraded console every couple of years, why not just sell a modular console that can at least have its RAM, GPU upgraded and just call it a day. Makes no sense in buying a whole new box just to get the few added spec benefits.
