I actually see Nintendo probably investing more with 3d and AR games than VR. The NX may be compatible with Oculus or Vive down the line with an external SCD, but I don't see them spending any meaningful money on their own on VR hardware.
Also I see a lot of people equating VR to be on the level of 3d, when not only has 3d been around for awhile. It's the primary way in which movies are shown in theaters today. VR has a long way to go before it proves it is a relevan...

Someone else brought this up on Neogaf since you brought up online gaming. If a PS4 game is 1080p and 30fps while the PS4k version is 1080p and 60fps, how does this work out for the PS4 players then? Would the multi-player mode on PS4 sacrifice visuals and effects to get it to the 60fps equivalent or will the PS4K gamers just be reduced to 1080p and 30fps to match PS4 owners.
Not to mention that the PS4K will be using a different Blu-ray medium that won't read on normal P...

Well there are people who don't understand technology that believe a PS4K would actually allow 4k gaming off of the rumored specs going around... Maybe games might get up scaled, but in no way would the system be able to render games natively in 4k...
What are you talking about people were in an uproar about if the New3ds was going to get a bunch of exclusive games. Which is why it hasn't seen much in the way of exclusive content.
The PS4K would be in the same boat as the N3ds, it would have better hardware but it will barely get taken advantage of since Sony will be to afraid of alienating the PS4 fan base. And I promise you, nobody but you are angry around these parts. ;(
I don't even think this game will be close to being the biggest game of the year... let alone being considered for any GoTY nominations.
If these companies know that they want to upgrade their current system in a couple of years. Why not just offer a modular upgradable console from the beginning? Sony had its fans around here talking about the PS4 has custom supercharged PC parts and now they want to upgrade the PS4 because it isn't quite capable enough... People have to stop believing everything that they hear on the Internet.
Well considering that AMD and many others are coming out with their own external gpu solutions. The patent that Nintendo filed is very reasonable as buying a physical unit is not really that hard to do or convey how it would work with the NX.
It's not even just that, the patent you are speaking of would allow the NX to receive extra processing power through an external gpu. This where consoles need to go, not buying a whole new machine in 3yrs!

FFVII will clearly be the best selling game that Sony announced at their 2015 e3. The Last Guardian will probably break a million, but I see people passing it up simply because it doesn't look like a PS4 game. Shenmue will probably turn many off when the final game is unveiled. Many had great initial hopes because it seemed like Sony was 100% backing the game.
Were you not watching the same e3 conference that I was? They said right there on stage that if this game doesn't sell then there won't be another one. That's caring about sells if I've ever seen it...

More studios have been closed in the 7th and 8th generation due to lack of game sells. If they didn't care they would just take the hit and keep these companies around...
Well if the game wasn't going to exist without Nintendo's help then what's the problem? Oh boy we might have another Bayonetta 2 level of meltdown here.
Its not about being afraid to try new things, but if any of these companies want to go down this road of ever changing hardware. Why not just release an adaptable base model that is upgradeable from the outset? In Sony's case why not just wait 2 more years and then show off a more powerful PS5 that is actually capable of 4k gaming...
What I don't understand is if these companies saw this coming, why not make the original hardware upgradeable or compatible for an external gpu. It just doesn't make sense and if one buys a PS4K shouldn't they hope that their already existing library of games will run better... Patches will probably come for certain games, but I can't see them working on all of these patches for free though.

Listen I know UE4 is a great engine and all but every time someone puts a Nintendo game on Unreal it just looks so generic and sterile. Now I'm sure if Nintendo ever decided to use Unreal, they would really create something mind blowing... These demos just aren't selling me on what Nintendo games should look like on the NX!
