Not even just the 1st party games, what about these 3rd party games everyone says does so much better on Playstation. Just look at the amount of games that have sold under a million copies, it just proves that gamers today keep a pair of rosy glasses on... PS4 has many games that haven't sold a million copes so therefore all of those games should be deemed failures by todays gaming standards.
There are plenty of big 3rd party games even on the glorious PS4 that haven't sold a million copies and it has a 40 million install base, so what's your reasoning for all of those games being failures! Since a game selling under a million copies seems to only be deemed a failure when its on a Nintendo platform. How's that SFV looking?
This was already proven to be a lie and most of Bayonetta 1's sells came when the game reached buget bin prices, not at full retail price.
There was no timeframe set by the operation platinum for this game selling 1 million copies, but this goal post moving is always hilarious to watch. As I've said before just look at how many extremely popular games on PS4 that haven't sold a million copies and then get back to me on what justifies the term success. There's a limited scope of what games sell extremely well on these systems and its not every 3rd party like N4G is delusional to believe.
What hurt the WiiU the most was that at launch there were no must have Nintendo titles to drive the install base to create a large enough interested gamer pool for third parties to enjoy success. It took so long for the WiiU to get to 5 million units and it really only picked up in sales when SM3dW and MK8 hit the console. Doesn't everything come down to personal tastes though? The problem comes from when people feel the need to get on their soap box and try to ruin every possible article imaginable with baseless banter. It would be totally different if you guys actually brought realistic and thought provoking topics to prove a point. But we just get, because the mainstream says so it must be true, doomed! That's what people have to understand early on and keep your expectations in check. As resolution increase, more bandwidth and processing power is needed to push these pixels on screen at high framerates. To take the current level of games and render them in ultra hd at respectable fps takes a multiple more than 2 to accomplish this... That's not even taking into account of trying to have extremely complex Ai and physics going on at the same time.

Nintendo said that it will not simply replace the 3ds and WiiU. That's a pretty clear statement as long as people have good comprehension skills. The word in that phrase that should be jumping out is "Simply" or only. So it sounds like the hardware is the center for more than just delivering handheld/console level games and will have or serve another purpose.
Most people already have PC's though, since people obviously don't buy XbOne and PS4 f I really the plethora of exclusive games! I see everyone talking about 3rd party support.
As the saying goes you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs! Nobody is saying that everything they do catches on, but they have far more success than failures. Which is why it's weird that people are so quick to write them off... it's also strange and pretty sad that people compare the profits of a rough generation Nintendo to Sony that is supposed to be their second coming of the PS2.
