I don't know why people are comparing the launch of the 3ds to the vita. They launched in two completely different shopping seasons of the year, not to mention that nintendo stocked the 3ds to launch in multiple regions within one months timeframe
I would like to see Retro be able to try their hands at this because one of their very first ambitious projects was a very large scale dragon fighting, sword weilding RPG called Raven Blade. Not even a having it be a FPS, I just think Retro would be perfect to take this series to the level of Assassins Creed and Skyrim. I've always thought Zelda should be the game Nintendo made into their end all be all game and a collaboration like this would easily take it to that level

These have to be some of the craziest reasons I have ever heard in my life... people claiming stuff like if Nintendo keeps going down the path they are going they will have to get out of the hardware business. Um correct me if I'm wrong but the DS has sold 160+ millions, the Wii has amassed 90+ and even the "Failure" 3DS has sold close to 10 million in less than 12 months. Where do people come up with this stuff, you just don't see people writing articles like this on Sony. ...
Actually it might be smart if Nintendo just put a 6core processor in the Wii u and turn 2 cores off in the firmware and release the extra processing power later in the consoles life
Well the fact is the ps3 released a year after the 360 but that doesn't mean that the ps3 was an order of magnitude more powerful than the 360. It doesn't happen that way, u better believe that by the time the Wii u hits retail both Sony and Microsoft will initially have their systems at least in a its final stages or configurations. The things they maybe playing with at that point will be ram amounts, HDD size,etc...
People are missing the point if this rumor has any truth to it. But just thinking of the sheer size of this amount of ram getting embed to SOC design im not sure if i believe they yould embed so much on a chip design like that for a dedicated gaming machine. No one needs that kind of bandwidth right now, its just insane really
People need to look up what embedded dram means and will see that this is quite a bit to use in this fashion. Most companies just don't embed that much ram onto the same chip as the CPU & GPU. Case in point, Sony embedded 256mb in their GPU with the ps3, this set up would be an embed where both CPU & GPU have this extremely fast access
U guys are missing the point if this rumor has any truth to it at all, but the fact that Nintendo wants to put this much ram on the same silicon as the CPU & GPU will give it a crazy fast bandwidth. Plus it can always have additional main system ram on top of this as well
Well Sony really screwed up this Gen because they invested so much more money than Either Nintendo or Microsoft for R&D that has yet to really pay off for them as a clear advantage. With both Nintendo and Microsoft gearing up to change the landscape towards the nex-gen, Sony may end up having to cut their profit earnings short so that both Nintendo or Microsoft don't get too much of headstart in this cycle
This is just rediculous really! As long as we need some kind of input to play video games (a controller input) there will continue to be a console in some form or another. I think people have been saying stuff like this since the end of the Sega Genesis And SNES days and now look, the market has grown to such a state that no one could fathom back then that we would be able to have 3 successful consoles that have each sold over 50million each.
I can almost promise u, as soon as Nintendo puts out a few games that easily leave ps360 games looking and feeling lastgen, Sony and Microsoft will throw their hats in the ring for the nextgen race
I'm glad people are getting excited about Sony making a Nintendo like game that has done so well for them, but in the end sony does much better when they create games like Resistance, GT & GoW! Moreso than games that are designed to be "killers" of other games on competitive systems. Just take a look at games like Crash Bandicoot, Dark Cloud, Spyro etc... these games all at one time were claimed to be Zelda & Mario killers which at this point are just PR statements being...
As someone stated earlier a graphics engine will only go so far before sacrifices need to be made in order for the game to even be enjoyable. I think if nintendo can cram 6gb of ram into the Wii U it will be the first legitimate console to push graphics and physics in the home arena to new a new level. I don't think its that most aren't willing or ready to buy new consoles, but more in the line that its the unknowns of what these devices plan on costing us...
Sony manufactures hardware as a primary day to day function so that alone makes this post pretty pointless!
