This. If more people understood how capitalism works we wouldn't have these "evil" companies. Don't like their products or business practices? Don't buy their shit. Simple as that.
Was gonna say this exact same thing. Probably the best iteration of ATB in any FF game. Not to mention they brought back jobs and also give you the option to switch jobs on the fly mid combat. It's a shame they wasted it on such a terrible game story wise.
Twilight Princess, Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past, Windwaker, Skyward Sword, BotW
Stop trying to act like games being in different launcher is the PC community's only issue with the EGS. It has nothing to do with that and considering it's the only point you ever bring up in EGS articles like this it shows how absolutely uninformed you are.
@jerome gets it! It being episodic is what makes it a cash grab. You know for all the hate that gaas games get around here, you would think people would be up in arms about the episodes but you guys are eating that shit up just because SE claims there will be a full game's worth of content in there. SE are turning a single player story driven experience into a service game. How do you guys not see that? I'm sure each episode will be priced at 60 bucks for the initial game and then hav...
Thank you @Atom I'm just glad to see that I'm not the only one that sees how terrible SE has been in the past 10 years. XII, XIII (and the sequels), XV and KH3 were all overhyped trash and the whole time those games were coming out they were leading everyone on with one tidbit of FFVIIR news every couple of years just to keep the hype train alive. And now that it's actually in development they are gonna try and sell us on multiple episodes? Even if I was okay with the battle syste...
Crazy how other studios can put out single games with 100+ hours of content but SE needs multiple episodes to put out a remake of what used to be a 40-50 hour game. Not to mention they already have dlc locked behind a collectors edition and still have no idea how many episodes they want to charge you for yet. But sure it's TOTALLY not a cash grab.
Not shocking at all. FFVIIR looks like another overhyped cash grab from SE whereas Cyberpunk looks incredible and only gets better looking. Who would have thought people would be more excited about a brand new FULL game than an episodic remake 🙄
Not that this is bad but I just really hope they make a completely self contained game and don't cop out on a cliffhanger ending. This is one of my biggest issues with HZD. The game was great but the last boss fight was very anticlimactic and then it just ended on a cliffhanger so as to set up the sequel.
X truly was the swan song of FF games. X-2 had a great battle system but that game was completely unnecessary. It's a shame we will never get anything from SE that is even remotely as good as Squaresoft.
@Zayne While I agree with you that the original's battle system isn't anything revolutionary, it still feels like too far of a deviation. I absolutely can't stand hybrid systems where you only end up controlling a single character. To me it feels like those systems forgo strategy to give you flashy action but the action is always lacking/slow cause they are trying to cram strategy concepts in.
That said, the battle system isn't it's largest flaw. The episodic rele...
Exactly dude! This remake is nothing but a very carefully crafted way of extracting money from people who will buy this out of pure nostalgia. Just like you said, they've been dangling this over our heads since they showed the tech demo on the PS3 and since they have literally no good ideas for games anymore they are finally cashing in on their largest cash cow of all time. It's blatantly obvious why they want to break it into episodes. What better way to extract more money from peopl...
What about turn based combat makes it from the ps1 era? You realize there have been multiple AAA games released THIS GEN with turn based combat. Nothing about it makes a game less "modern".
Updating the graphics has nothing to do with changing the battle system or breaking the game into episodes. And they've admitted multiple times that they changed the battle system purposely to appeal to a larger audience aka not the original audience that supported the game in the first place and were the ones ultimately asking for a "remake". Also Final Fantasy hasn't been good since they ditched the turn combat so...
It wouldn't be if they just listened to what actual fans wanted instead of focusing on the current generation of people who have never played/supported the original. All they needed to do to "surpass" the original was to release it with modern graphics/voice acting and maybe some add some extra content/materia. Instead of getting an updated classic turn based rpg we are getting a hacked up episodic arpg. It will never be as good as the original given their current design. Hell w...
I mean these guys are idiots if they think that calling them "surprise mechanics" makes a difference. A loot box is a loot box. It's a randomized piece of digital content put behind a paywall with arbitrary odds. It plays off of the exact same chemical reaction as gambling does and it's just shady. What blows my mind is that people actually buy this shit. I'll gladly invest into a tcg where I know I'll break even if I ever have to sell my cards. But you get literally...
Bloodborne has amazing lore. Not saying it is better than DS but I definitely think it tells a more focused story for sure.
Squaresoft doesn't exist anymore. And SE can't touch the amount of detail and lore that FromSoft puts into their games. If you are just playing the game and not reading item descriptions or paying attention to all of the little details you're going to miss 80% of the storytelling. There are probably less than ten cutscenes in all of Bloodborne and that game told a better story then anything SE has put out in the past decade.
I don't see how this applies to TCGs. With a loot box, you are taking a risk that the money you spend goes to some digital item that might have value within the game but has no value in the real world. Cards in TCGs have direct monetary value associated with them because they will only print a certain number of physical cards per set which makes them worth something within that TCG's economy. Even if you get something you weren't looking for, you could still sell/trade what you go...
