The game looks straight up bad
Could you imagine a Threads of Fate remake?? That would be incredible. It is a shame that SE views turn based games as somehow inferior to action games. FF used to be at the top of the game when it came to turn based and the last few mainline games being not that great on top of the absolutely butchering of FFVII remake makes me question whether they will ever actually go back to their roots.
Dude has a straight up baby face
ER has less pvp options in terms of invasions and build diversity is awful compared to other souls games thanks to how op magic is.
@CS7 I'm sure you believed SE when they told you that too
Their obsession is money. FF (VII more importantly) is a widely known franchise that many people have lots of nostalgia for and will bring in the most money. That is the only thing they care about. It's why instead of giving us FFVII remade in a single installment, they went with this overblown three part sequel nonsense. Because why only milk FFVII for one game (even tho VII has already been milked into oblivion) when they can milk it for three knowing people will throw money at anything...
Been thinking the same thing about RT lately. Feels like it solely exists just to justify pushing out more powerful hardware. For how much it affects performance I'd expect it to look mind blowing but it really isn't that impressive. Majority of the time I disable it if I can just to get more fps out of my 2080/5900x and that's only pushing 1440p in 21:9. Really just isn't worth it imo.
So much this. Square Enix hasn't put out a good game in years. Every mainline FF game since 12 has been trash and they see literally butchering FFVII before our very eyes with this nonsense alternate timeline sequel garbage. Not to mention the second installment is nowhere in sight. They have absolutely no idea what to do with FF and it is on it's last leg with the only thing propping it up being nostalgia.
I don't think there is pressure to not play like everyone else but I honestly believe summons break the game. Most souls boss encounters are meant to be 1v1. The second you add another target in the mix it's just a matter of forcing them to switch aggro and then pounding on their back. Not diminishing anyone else's playstyle who enjoys using those options, but to me it doesn't feel as gratifying. Spells are a little cheesy (pebble anyone??) but the AI in Elden Ring seems to be...
Melania isn't that cheap honestly. By the time I beat her (without summons or magic mind you) I barely even got hit and had the majority of flasks still available. The sword dance combo always triggers at a specific amount of health so you just bait her into it and run and the her moves are easily identifiable/dodgeable. Just be patient and don't get greedy. Everyone loves being greedy.
Bloodborne
Dark Souls
Dark Souls 3
Elden Ring
Demon's Souls
Dark Souls 2
Maybe when Elden Ring DLC drops it will move up a rank but for now DS3 is still better due to pvp
Legend? Malenia's patterns/distance triggers are so predictable and she's actually easier to do alone since she isn't getting extra heal procs from hitting multiple people. Not a hard boss to solo at all.
Clearly I am talking about actual difficulty settings but what you're saying further reinforces my point. Magic builds are basically cheese and summons totally trivialize boss fights. I purposely go through souls games on my first run as melee and don't use summons because magic usually makes it easy mode and I truly believe the bosses in these games are meant to be 1v1. Having a tear or coop partner turns boss fights into trading aggro and spamming back attacks.
I commend From for making their games with a single difficulty in mind. People think these games are hard but in reality they actually aren't and people are just lazy. They don't want to learn the encounters, understand enemy patterns and execute with intention they just wanna run in and spam attacks until everything is dead. I've said it before and I'll say it over and over again. If you don't like that gameplay loop the game isn't meant for you. You don't see any...
BotW was a joke the day it came out let alone before being utterly put to shame by ER
These games are meant to be "alive" so the devs can react to the player base and add the content people actually want and to keep the game balanced. I'm not gonna pretend like it isn't lacking in the content department at the moment but that is the norm for these kind of games when they first release. If you don't like the GaaS format in general why are you even here? There are tons of games that don't follow the live service model that you can go play if you hate in...
@TheDreamCorridor what are you even saying dude? The PC community are some of the biggest die hards out there and are singlehandedly responsible for giving legs to so many game's online communities.
To the op, you realize there have been some absolutely huge releases in between the release of infinite and now. I mean Elden Ring just came out on top of some huge Sony ips too like Horizon and GT. Naturally the numbers will dip with other big releases and when new seasons ...
The game has only been out for 4 months ffs. Give it time to grow, some time for 343 to react to what the player base wants and for them to build out modes, maps and everything else. Live service games take time to get good and there's plenty to play in the mean time while they iterate. Hell Apex was pretty bare bones at the start and is now an incredible example of how to keep a live service game relevant. Idk about everyone else but I take breaks from these games anyways and it will be ...
Frustration is built into the foundation of souls games. Not everyone likes to breeze through games on easy mode with no challenge involved. It is the frustration and the feeling of overcoming it that draws people to those games in the first place. If you don't understand that it's perfectly fine and the game is clearly not meant for you.
