Trainee

When watching the gameplay footage I was immediately reminded of Twin Peaks. In fact, I think the diner in the game looks just about exactly like the diner in Twin Peaks.

And this trailer continues with the homage even down to the title (name of the town). Very cool.

Awesome, been wanting to play Deus Ex for a long time now since everybody says it's so good.

"I'm sorry, but for the aforementioned reasons, I cannot confirm the exact native resolution either. But, on the other hand, you can rest quite assured that the graphics quality is good. Even after so many hours of staring at the game, people I asked could just say that "it looks like 720p", even though some remember that there had been discussions whether to render in 720p or less."

I totally agree. I bought The Dig from 1995 on Steam, and it was tons of fun. I'm actually hoping for more and more vintage games to be released. Wouldn't it be great if Steam had every game ever made?

@5.1 On PCs you can turn on Vertical Sync (if it's not in the game menu you can force it in the graphics card control panel) which eliminates screen tearing completely.

I don't buy DVDs anymore solely because the resolution is awful and they look blurry on a big screen.

And I don't remember the last time I've played a game at less than 720p. I don't do consoles btw, so most of the time I go 1080p.

Why do people keep saying "it looks good anyway"? Have you actually watched the gameplay footage full-screen or looked at the screenshots full-screen?

540p becomes blurry when it needs to be upscaled for a 1080p display. It's barely more than PAL SD.

<<You just cant take a already built game and slap 3D with it. It will seem poor and no way near worth the value.>>

Uh, what? nVidia 3D Vision begs to differ. You CAN play games in 3D that were built without it in mind. And they look just like Avatar because the stereoscopy is created the same way: by using the game engine to render a different perspective for each eye.

@9.1: current 3D technology does not blur the image at all. The only drawback is a dimming of the image due to the polarized lenses (in passive systems at the theater) or due to the shutter glasses (in active systems at home).

Current 3D displays for home use tend to automatically maximize the screen brightness when you enter 3D mode to counteract the dimming. And properly set-up movie theaters project a brighter image when playing 3D content to counteract the dimming.

"Far away from having the next gen details"?

Do you people still think of the current console generation as "next gen"? If so, then even Crysis 1 would have to be "next next gen".

<<Oh well, he can go eat a dlck.>>

Only on N4G could a childish and rude poster like you receive this many bubbles. Did Mr. Ebert personally insult you?

I don't agree with him about video games not being art. But he's certainly entitled to his opinion. I've been reading his movie reviews for a very long time and will continue to do so because they are among the best you can find.

I'm not sure how it's vital to their business when it makes me take my dollars elsewhere.

He didn't even say it "look" slightly better. He said it "performs" slightly better, as in 2 or 3 extra fps.

The only epic fail is your post.

What do most self-respecting gamers play on? That's right, 1080p displays.
What do 1080p displays do when they receive a 720p input from a game or other source? That's right, they scale it up to 1080p.

Yeah, boohoo for Rockstar trying to fix one of the worst console ports in the history of console ports.

My machine plays Crysis but not GTA IV. Good job, Rockstar. It looks half as good and runs like a55. But I won't re-install all that Rockstar Social Club and Windows Live crap just to find out that the update still gives me a choppy game.

5783d ago 2 agree1 disagreeView comment

Yup. Crysis 1 on Medium still beats anything that's on a console. And yet all you ever hear is "oh, but you need a super computer to play it maxed out". So annoying.

So this is the famed Killzone 2? It looks marginally better than those Crysis 2 screenshots, but the texture resolution is awful in Killzone as well.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, look at the image below and see what high-detail geometry and high-resolution textures can do to a game:

Yes, but in the 720p version there's now no denying that the textures are low-res, the geometry lacks detail and there's tons of aliasing.

You play a shooter willingly on a controller? That's pretty hilarious.
