I know I'll never see them.
All I'm saying is that Sony's tactic of luring me into buying their system doesn't work. So what's the point of exclusives then?
They are telling me I can only buy their games if I buy their system. And I'm telling them they don't get my money that way. Release it for MY system and you WILL get my money.
But LOL at the 18 disagrees. What did I say to infuriate the Sony brigade? Oh yes, I dislike ...
I would LOVE to play Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2, but I won't buy a PS3 just for those. I own a Blu-ray player, so the only reason for me to buy a PS3 would be 2 or 3 exclusives I'm interested in. And that's just not worth it.
Port those games to the PC and I'll buy, but you will not lure me into buying a system I have no interest in.
It's not half the resolution of 1080p, it's about a quarter.
1080p has ~2 megapixels, Alan Wake has ~0.5 megapixels.
"No longer is it enough for an image to look crisp [...]"
If the image looked crisp then there would be no need to pixel count. End of story. But Sub-HD does not look crisp, so we pixel count to find out just how much below HD it is.
Anybody who hits Disagree, please slap your own face for wasting money on an HD display.
When this game was first announced the 360 didn't even exist.
That's what you get for killing off the PC version after years of anticipation, suckers.
3D only makes no sense. Game engines will always have the capability of only rendering one of the two stereoscopic images, giving 2D. Why wouldn't they?
Sony Santa Monica God of War director said they likely tapped only 50% of PS3 power in GoW3?
Doesn't that game run in 720p? If it's only using 50% of the power then why did they limit the resolution? I call BS.
So now people do video editing on analog sticks? That is absolutely hilarious. And I'm glad to own Sony Vegas. And a mouse. And a RAID.
There is absolutely no way a 480 in SLI would give you such low framerates at 1080p. Metro is demanding as hell, but your framerates are way too low. Check out some reviews and benchmarks of the game.
You may be CPU limited, that's kind of the only explanation.
Regardless of how much tesselation impacts performance, the quality difference is barely noticeable even in side-by-side comparison screenshots.
I only ever install 2 or 3. When I'm done with one I'll uninstall and grab a new one from the ever growing library.
Resistance against Steam deals is futile. I've realized this a long time ago.
If I want to play 720p with blurry textures I can do that on any old system. Onlive is supposed to let you play high-end stuff without buying the expensive hardware.
<<Execpt games that will be released within the next 2 years, by that time you'll be forced to upgrade once again.>>
His 8800 will run any currrent gen console port, whether they're released now or in two years. Hardware requirements on console ports don't go up (why would they?)
This is low bitrate 720p vs. uncompressed 1080p. Not surprising really.
This deal is freaking awesome!
<<It's a common film technique to blur out the foreground or background of a scene and focus on a particular subject, however most people aren't used to viewing movies in 3D. They try vainly to focus on items out of focus and this causes eye strain.>>
People are just dumb. What's out of focus is out of focus, period. Just accept that the director of photography wants to bring your attention to what is IN FOCUS and enjoy the ride.
There...
No, the 13 billion figure contains only game related sales, not Windows. Look it up on Google, it's the official figure for 2009.
It does include subscriptions for MMOs, so about 1 billion of that is purely World of Warcraft, but 13 billion is beyond what any of the consoles pull in.
They say it's not good for handhelds because PSP2 won't have it. They'll change their mind around the time when PSP3 comes out.
You're right, electronics become obsolete quickly. Moore's Law roughly holds true to this very day. Average transistor count doubles every two years.
A $500 gaming machine sold today would be about four times as powerful as a $500 gaming machine sold four years ago.
