I'm a big FF/Squaresoft fan... yet I have yet to purchase a single game released by them this gen. The last SE game I purchased was FF12 for the PS2, and it only got finish on my PS3 because I had just gotten the system and wanted to test out the BC.
My cousin got FF13 and he brought it over. Him, a friend, and myself where falling asleep while I was playing it for a few hours... I repeat, we where falling asleep on a FF game!?!?!

Sony and MS have stated that this gen will be 10 years long. That means that the next gen wont start until 10yrs after this one did. So lets do some math.
X360 released in 2005 + 10 yrs = 2015
PS3 released in 2006 + 10yrs = 2016
Factor in the economy, current console and game prices, release of Kinect & Move/3D push, as well as X360's early lead this gen. All indicators are that 2015 is the most likely year for the next gen of consoles.

Sony has been trying to protect gamers and developers with all of the security they put into the PS3 and PSN. Jailbreaking the PS3 is what lead to this attack, which is not something you can even come close to doing with a jailbroken Iphone.
People forget that real Hackers are always looking at the big picture... money. Time is money and why spend so much time cracking a console if there isn't any money involved in the end.
Actually, it was beyond what even the first Halo did.
The openness of the maps are still epic and the vast amount of gameplay still unrivaled. The only thing that held the original up was the fact that most gamers where still rocking dailup and thus getting pawned left and right... myself included. I still enjoyed it and especially the mods. Portable force fields, low grav worlds, wonderfully wild weapons oh my!
I hope they make this game worthy of the Tribes...
It was kinda funny how PSN went down around the time that Skynet was supposed to be taking over.
I figured GLaDOS of Aperture Science used Steam to hack the PSN and that it was on the verge of sentience. Thus why Sony had to shut down the PSN. If GLaDOS had linked to every PS3 it would have created a super computer the likes of which would have been unstoppable.... well until the power went out after Judgment Day. ;)

the thing I find funny is that back in 2007 Live was hacked... boy how short people's memories are these days.
1. the Head of Security of Live had his account hacked recently, so just how much safer is Live.

The lack of info up front was bad PR, but they did things that way for security reasons. I'm quite sure that when the dust settles we will find that the whole incident isn't as bad as some sites are making it seem.
That's because a lot of interviewers are asking about the next gen.
