I agree, it also gave confidence to Nintendo that a system with cheap specs and a bunch of shovelwares can sell really well. They tried to repeat for a second time and it doesn't seem to work...
Nintendo should have made the same decision...
Wii sold 100+ millions units and wii u sold 3.75 after a year.
So if we respect the proportion, if next year X1 or PS4 sold 3 millions units(both sold around 80 millions this gen), would that be a major fail, hell yeah!
The reality is Ninty has been stuck on the 1st gear all year long and seeing those two giants gearing up a great start, Nintendo will probably be stuck in a smoke of dust in no time.

I used to be a NHL2K guy and I'm so sad I have to get EA's game.
They're so lazy, I mean, how hard is it to get the in-game player faces right on more than like 20%.
The menus are pathetic and graphics are okay.
No wonder their NBA games are failing.
Anyways, the game is still fun, but it should be so much nicer.
If we only compare PS3/X360 vs PS4/X1 sales, I think it will be even and next gen may even be more successful.
Wii vs Wii U will be a major drop.
So overall, yes, we might see a decrease.
I kind of wish this could indicate a sequel, but the way it was received and the way the game ends, I don't think that's a possibility...

Demons, blood(lots and lots of it) and gore, deal with the devil; sounds like horror to me.
It's not subtle and ambience horror like let's say Dead Space but it's good old B-movie horror for sure.
I kind of agree with. If it wasn't for that wii controller gimmick, the wii would have failed and I'm not sure the wii u would have been created. I personally hate motion controller.
That new tablet controller sounds like a waste of technology, I have a 60" TV but I will look into a small screen just to get rid of the select option menu, no thanks.

Though releasing a HD console when you're inexperienced a year ahead of two companies who have 7-8 years of experience with HD graphics is a pretty incompetent move.
...but it has the one it deserves.
Nintendo crowd is a strange one. When they get a 3rd party game version, they don't buy it but when a 3rd party game says it won't release on a Nintendo, they're outraged.
Also, Nintendo has made a tradition lately of having underpowered consoles, that means you have to dumb way down the port, which gives the Nintendo crowd a really good reason to avoid those games.

The year head start, the PS3 starting price and the difficulty of 3rd party devs to exploit the PS3 was the reason 360 was on top.
Nothing was about the 360 really.
Once on par for price for a much better machine, bunch of exclusives, 3rd party producing great ports for PS3, no wonder the PS3 got slowly back on top.

PS4 may have to do so because of the link that's created from your PSN account to your PS4 controller. 4 may be the maximum they can do at this moment with this feature.
I haven't heard that this is happening with the X1 XBL account being linked to a controller. But then again, I don't really care about X1 so I don't as much about it as PS4.
When you list Mario and Sonic Sochi as system selling title, you're in trouble.
Of course WiiU doesn't just have Rayman, but it doesn't have much whereas X360 and PS3 have a truckload of new releases every now and then, and Rayman is one of them.
It was console exclusive...
