Personally, I feel that the only chance that Microsoft has is if Sony does something similar. Otherwise, I don't know how they thought that console gamers would be happy with this. Too many new restrictions that nobody really asked for, and the benefits don't seem to outweigh the questionable choices. Making bold, forward thinking moves like requiring your console to use high speed connection to game online (orginial xbox) is on a completely different scale to what is going on now. ...
Yep, most likely. A next gen announcement would definitely be welcomed, though.
They could do it by location. Exlusive content for Xbox in NA only, for instance, while it is released on everything everywhere else.
This article is from the 22nd of May.
Isn't this old? I was reading this and thinking that I had heard all of this before. Then I noticed that this article was from the 22nd of May. In other words, I believe that this exact interview has been reported already. Why was this submitted?
A good game with a lot of promise to be had in expected sequels. The Dark Arisen expansion is lots of fun as well.
You do have a point there.
Is that so bad?
I thought it was the "I" in Killer Instinct, but you could very well be correct.
Garethvk,
You bring up a pretty good point about Halo and Gears. Halo especially, as that is Microsoft's flagship franchise. I remember when the 360 came out, Halo 2 was a BC title that 360 gamers could play on the console. It made sense that the original Xbox's most popular online game would be made available to those that were upgrading to the new console.
Seems like that won't be an option this time, but I wouldn't be surprised if Micr...
Well, in all fairness, common sense would tell us that if we at least unplug the thing from a power source, then the system would be completely off. The thing doesn't have to be always on if we don't want it to.
One good thing to take from this is that they are acknowledging that a lot of gamers have a problem with what's been going on. Now, whether anything comes from that is still yet to be seen, but gamers are definitely being heard. Question is, are they really listening, and do they plan to do anything about it soon?
One of the reports from this morning (Eurogamer perhaps) stated that people wouldn't have to pay a separate fee to activate a game that was purchased used. The activation fee would already be included in the purchase or something like that.
At this point, I think it is best for all of us to stop trying to figure this out and just wait for them to give some concrete answers about what is truly going on. The console isn't coming out anytime soon, so there isn't ...
I'm getting all 3. Haven't decided 100% on the order in which I'll get them yet though.
I believe he was talking about all next gen consoles, not just the xbox one
Well, their reasoning was that by focusing on the media and entertainment features on Tuesday, they were able to keep that out of the E3 event. Since this was the portion that people normally hate during E3, the idea was that it would be better to have E3 primarily focus on games without all the bloat that gamers never cared for.
Unfortunately, gamers are still some of main people that tune in for a console reveal. It was a lose/lose for them, but at least they can potential...
I'm hoping that they will turn this around or straighten this stuff out somehow. Either they don't know how much good will they are losing, or they just don't care. Maybe they really are going in a different direction, and if that is the case then they should just say so. But, they can't treat the gaming public like its stupid and say they are doing these things for us when everything they are doing just points to restrictions on top of restrictions and nobody wants or need...
I remember listening to this interview this morning. This particular part of the conversation wasn't that clear. Still, Microsoft is dancing around the issue. Greenburg does say that the XOne probably isn't the best device to use in such an environment, BUT he didn't say that it couldn't be used. It almost seemed as though he was referring to every single function of the console and not just offline gaming portion of it. Yet, the question was specifically about gaming. Th...
I think that the major issues that everyone has a problem with can be changed. Online requirements and used game strategy are things that they can probably have corrected pretty soon if they so choose and probably wouldn't require any changes to the hardware itself. It can still be a successful console even if it isn't as strong as the PS4. A good stable of games and a good price can help it succeed. But something needs to be done about the online requirements and used game confusio...
Be nice if they could at least get rid of the 24 hour check. I can deal with the other stuff, but the 24 hour thing is nuts. Lock me out of online gaming if you want, but offline gaming should not be locked out if i can connect to the internet for some reason or another.
