They can't really comment on something that technically doesn't exist. Yeah, we all know its coming, but they haven't officially announced it yet. All answers will be provided once the thing is actually announced.
We don't know that for a fact until Microsoft officially confirms or denies it. RUMORS are point to it to being true, but until something official comes out, they are still just rumors despite how believe they may seem.
I think that the important thing here is to determine what "always online" really means. Always online and REQUIRED to be online can be completely different. The two so far are being talked about as the same thing in rumors, and this may not necessarily be the case.
Well people have their own opinions. I just don't agree with this one. Very good IMO.
Indeed it is. Article isn't much better.
Good. Keep em comin!
Yeah, this is the most likely scenario, and the PS4 will do something similar. The theme of this next generation will be about connected experiences for both platform providers, and making the experience more immediate for the consumer.
Phones, tablets, and pc's all connected to your specific platform's network (Live or PSN) in some way in order to provide ease of access from anywhere. Definitely a cool next step that we have seen bits and pieces of progression fo...
And the problem is that too many places are assuming that it won't instead of wondering if it won't. I think that once we have an official announcement, people will find that it wasn't as serious as they all believed it will be.
Pretty much. Almost makes you wonder if people that run all of these sites have issues understanding what they are reading, or if they are just using wild speculation for hits.
Well sites really have taken the "always online" tag and twisted it into a negative as a console that will block used games and not allow the console to be played offline. In reality, the most recent documentation leak has said nothing about blocking used games nor saying that the console has to be online to operate. Instead they are taking vague information reporting it as the worst possible scenario and not even taking the same effort to look at from a different, more likely sce...

Again, I think this is similar to PS3 installs, except on a full scale. Think of it along the terms of a lot of PS3 games in which you have to install a certain amount of some games in order to play it. This could be the same for the new Xbox, except the full game will be installed.
But, it could still retain the functionality of 360 installs in that the disc must still be in the tray in order for the game to played. The game may not play from th...
I see it as the game will be installed to the drive, but the disc will still be needed in order for you to play. The 360 does this now, as you can't play an installed disc game without having the disc in the tray. I can still delete the data when I'm done and trade the game in at gamestop if I want. The new Xbox will probably be similar, except instead of having the option to install the game, we will be required to install it. May not mean that we can't take the disc to someo...
And how do we know that the new Xbox won't be able to be played offline? I think too many people are looking way too deep into this "always on, always connected" thing. I think a lot of us are taking what is simply a marketing tag line and making more out of it than what it truly means.
Connected, to me, seems to imply something different. When it says "users will quickly and easily enjoy their CONNECTED entertainment experiences, with no waiting for the console to restart or install games...," I'm not seeing that idea that the console will be required to be online. It looks like it is more alluding to your first statement about the console being in a standby state. While in standby, things will still occur in the background. Taking out the waiting time for...
Why is it so terrible for the console to be on in a lower power state, doing things in the background?
Good point. This was my thinking as well. I'm thinking that Kinect won't be as big of a problem that most people think. I think it will mostly be for voice commands and hands-free menu navigation, but as far as game are concerned, as far as how it is used will still primarily be up to the developers.
Maybe I'm not looking into this as hard as I should, but this doesn't seem like it is that big of a deal to me. We really just need more details on what some of this will actually mean.
-Always on, Always connected: Unless this is saying that the console has to be online in order to play games, then I don't see the problem. My consoles now are always connected when I start them up. perhaps the always on is more so of a function of hands-free startup?
I have a feeling that by the time this game is released, the next gen consoles will be out. Gonna have to make room for this one despite all of that.
Can't wait for this.
Yeah, I'm not seeing how it is confusing. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.
