Umm... even they admit that they're not doing great...
So I politely state an opinion that a lot of people are obviously thinking about and that deserves a 'Shut Up'?
Look, it's like this, all of my friends have PS2s, seriously all of them. None of them have PS3s. When I ask them about whether or not they're going to buy the PS3, they all say no.
It's no 'No, because we hate Sony', it's 'No because it's too expensive and Microsoft seems to be stealing a lot of Sony's thunder (exclusives) while releasing kick-ass exc...
And when it comes to the PS2, I still am. But I have to admit that I'm kind-of pissed off at Sony right now. I think that the PS3 is simply a Trojan Horse for the Blue-ray movie format. I agree that overall, the PS2 had better games than the Xbox (minus the multiplayer ones) but remember that it was the least powerful console of the last generation.
Most people DO NOT want to pay $599 for a console right now. How many people care about 1080p? Read the developer interviews in PS...
Almost every single developer (even the pro Sony ones) has said that the PS3 is far more complicated to develop for. This costs developers money and unless the PS3 sells really well, it's even less incentive for them to put the extra effort into making titles for it.
I'm not being anti-Sony, just pointing out the obvious. Sony made a decision to make the PS3's architecture non-familiar and for now they're going to have to pay for that in bad ports and delayed titles.

Although it's nice to see that Sony is trying to appeal to their casual fanbase (huge on the PS2 of course), I have a hard time believing that the Singstar PS2 fans are gonna drop $600 for the console in order to play SS... Maybe we'll all be surprised, who knows?
I'm still pretty excited about the title. In 1up's latest 'Up Yours' podcast, they talked about how Halo 3 was going to have a new handicap multiplayer mode so that people can learn the mechanics of the game. People who consistently score better will be handicapped while the worst players will be given advantages. At least it's an idea to get people learning the ropes...
But you never know. It's not looking good for Konami in terms of recouping expenses on the PS3. I imagine that this game was insanely expensive to make. Sony must be shelling out some heavy dough to keep that one exclusive.
The flipside to this is of course that MGS2 didn't sell for sh!t on the original Xbox, so maybe they're not sure about sales on the 360. However, I wouldn't be surprised if most games nowadays will only be timed exclusives (minus those published by Sony or M...
Seemed to imply that Haze was exclusive. Also, the official Haze website ONLY has the PS3 logo on it. Too bad too because I actually like the stuff that Free-Radical has done in the past.
And truth be told, the 360 does have a lot of shooters. Oh, and is anyone going to buy this around the same time that Halo 3 comes out???
I disagree with this article. I don't think it'll be a huge PR nightmare from telling people "tough luck you bought a used, modified system". They could deal with this simply by running some press about how they're cracking down on copyright infringement.
Plus, if this prevents LIVE from being filled by cheaters, I'm all for it.
"Besides, No matter what microsoft or sony says. You have to right to modify anything you legaly own."
and population growth are positively correlated and it would require wacky multiple regression analysis in order to remove the effect of one variable from another...
Remember that these are 'rough' estimates!
Then make all kinds of unfounded predictions yourself? We're judging the PS3 based on how it's performing NOW. Also, by your logic, if the best hardware = the best games, then the PS2 should have been last in the previous generation. The software lineup for the PS3 is sub par, developers are getting skittish, Sony cannot yet confirm that FFXIII will even be exclusive. All of these random 'Sony will win' comments aren't being backed up by the facts as they stand. Time will tell, but that doesn...
I guess you could scale down the resolution and throw out a lot of the shinier lighting effects. It's not impossible to adapt anything... What's next 'CryTek Light'?
You have to admit that the PS3 just isn't selling. In fact, every month developers are more enticed to go multi-platform or 360/Wii exclusive. How much easier do you think it is for Microsoft to secure an exclusive than Sony? At least the publisher will recoup some expenses on the 360 at the moment.
I'm a gamer, not a fanboy. I go where the games are. If Sony had delivered on what they'd promised, I'd still have my PS3. Right now, Microsoft's line up is just better (remember th...
Maybe they mean 'average' quality (as more stuff is released nowadays). But I would argue that a large amount of superbly high quality games have been hitting us, especially in the last 12 months. Think of the first year after the PS2 was released (before GTA3, FFX and MGS2), that was a BAD year.
I actually really liked the system, bought it on day one. But I couldn't get one without burnt pixels and all the games had ridiculous load times. So I traded it in for a DS last year. I may be tempted to go back to a PSP if I knew that the pixel issue and load problems were fixed. Anyone able to help me on this?
I'm not selling my DS Lite though... that thing is THE SH!T!
The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Oblivion are 'inferior' graphically to the best gaming rig PCs... Well I guess both consoles suck right? Oh, what do you mean I don't get to play Ninja Gaiden on PC? oh...
This is obvious (i.e. not newsworthy).
Developers have been saying for a couple of years now that the MASSIVE cost of game development for the new gen was going to make exclusives very difficult. Couple that to the slow sales start at the beginning of a new generation and dev/publishers are already wringing their hands.
So in steps Sony with a console that they basically acknowledge is going to sell much more slowly than previous generations. Couple that to the fact that it's harder to code for, increasing developme...
But so are the 360's and the Wii's. And the longer it takes to get the games out, the bigger the disparity between console sales is going to get, making it more difficult for Sony to secure exclusives against their competitors. Sony needs to do some serious leg work.
Assuming PS3 sales don't pick up, who is going to buy these extra 5.5 million PS3s? I mean, if EB and Gamestop have PS3s in stock everywhere, why would they buy more. I assume Sony plans to sell more consoles soon... Price cut?
The author mentions a lot of 'AAA' exclusive titles for PS3, but as a reader of PSM, I've pretty much been hearing about the same exclusives for about a year and a half now. The price drop is a given (but a $100 may still not be enough), but what Sony really needs to do is announce some new big exclusives, if only to offset the massive loss of exclusives that the company has suffered in the last 6 months.
Ditto above. The only reason that MS keeps the core unit around is that t...
