PS3 price drop = great! 360 price drop = great! Get over yourselves. If your favorite console (360 or PS3) is so great, than it doesn't need your pansy-little whining and complaining to make it look good. Let them stand on their own merits...
I'm sorry but I'm worried at how this stuff will be presented. A 'child-raising' game could be fun (I guess), but I don't think it should be presented as 'child-raising training' targeted at girls. At that point it's just about putting girls in to predetermined societally acceptable roles.
Hey, but maybe they'll love it. And I think that companies should be able to release whatever they want... but it's still sad.
Pointless article true... but there have been many pointless articles here lately.
If we're talking about the Xbox 360 vs. the PS3, the problem is that Sony has lost their big advantage over Microsoft in the last generation. A lot of the games that I loved on my PS2 (Grand Theft Auto and Devil May Cry, etc.) I can now get on my Xbox 360, PLUS all of the MS exclusive titles.
There's nothing 'wrong' with the PS3 (except maybe the price) however, from the point of view of most of my buddies and I, there's also no good reason to buy one yet. I don't think I'm a m...
Halo 3's biggest 'ace in the hole' is the massive multiplayer component. It's better to keep the graphics reasonable and the framerate solid rather then have a choppy experience. We'll have to see it when it comes out, but graphics alone don't make a game...
I'm sick and fricking tired of empty promises and games that are going to be 'teh awesome' when they come out in 2.5 years! I would have liked to have seen some huge announcements or new exclusives or whatever... But the fall lineup is absolutely awesome. All playable by the end of the year!
They're so ahead in terms of software library for Q3-Q4 that they may as well play to their strengths. Sony will announce a bunch of cool stuff too, but the question will be when will we se...
Because negative publicity is all that thing got for the first 6 months...
Stop talking nonsense. Games are ALL that matter.
When I first discovered N4G, I thought it was an MS fansite because the Sony news was always so negative. Lately I think the Sony Protection Group got their hands on the keys to these forums.
Every frickin' day it's "The PS3 is in an excellent position" this, and "Top 10 reasons why the PS3 will win this war" that. Wow, I don't even consider my own blog news.
Couldn't we just aggregate news from real news sites? I don't hate either console, b...
The 3 year warranty is actually the best way that Microsoft could have dealt with what is admittedly a sh!tty situation. New consoles are shipping with improved heat-sinks and thermal paste, which should remove the problem. A complete recall at this point would cost far more than simply dealing with the defective consoles themselves on a one-by-one basis.
Hey, I'd love for the problem to be fixed overnight but people have to be realistic. A complete recall could tank the Xbox b...
/sarcasm
But seriously, it was an annoying feature of the store to be sure... nice that they fixed it ;-)
I guess I understand that reviews are partly personal opinion, but the negative reviews about Killzone were pretty much across the board. What gets me is that there aren't many titles where the first one was pretty crappy, but everyone's CRAZY excited about the sequel:
"BULLET WITCH 2 IS GONNA BE TEH ROXXORS!!!!"
However, I assume that Sony needs something to counter Halo... I just don't think KZ2 is it. Maybe if they dropped some real dough and made Ha...
Can I just ask a question for personal clarification reasons (a bunch of my friends are wondering as well)? Okay, I'm excited about MGS 4 and FFXIII and stuff, but can people explain to me why everyone is SO excited about Killzone 2?
Now the reason I ask is because the original Killzone, while a commercial success, was pretty much generally lambasted by reviews (check out the gamestats rating, the average press score was 7.2 out of 10, not 'AAA' material).
When did N4G become a Sony fansite? If I see one more Sony Protection Group article...
EDIT:
Oh and what an awesome piece of cherry-picking misquoting this is eh:

So it wasn't just made up.
I'm not sure that the massive price tag of the system (price drop or not) will really be able to capture the casual market... I think that Sony's money is best spent focusing on drawing more of the video-phile crowd that they've courted with this system.
Once the price drops a few hundred bucks, maybe then they'll be able to woo the casual crowd away from the Wii (if that's even possible at this point!).
It's just a bit of added security for people who are fans of the games that the 360 offers. What I'm still not sure of is why so many people are trying to put a negative spin on the fact that MS is actually poney-ing up to their mistakes and doing something about it...
I wanna see the sales figures in a month or two!.
I'm only quoting prices I've seen a Canadian retail outlets (Future Shop, Block Buster, etc.). Shopping around probably could get you better prices... However, the pricing structure may be different in different regions.
Edit: Go Check Amazon.ca - No such Blu-ray deals are found up north!
"I don't get that. If you have an hdtv why wouldn't you want to watch movies in hd?"
I bought my HDTV for games. Eventually I'll probably go Blu-ray, but right now, I'm satisfied with plain old DVD. There are only about ~250-300 Blu-ray movies, and most of them are of the niche sci-fi variety. I'm not saying there's nothing good, but I've got a big DVD collection and I'm not going Blu-ray until I know the films I like are there too.
"And unless you...
To all of those people who repeat that the PS3 is an 'awesome value' for $600 (or ~$700 here in Canada), I'd like to append the following:
It is an awesome value ONLY if you want a Blu-ray player and a media-manager.
I have several friends with HDTVs (I have one too) who still have no interest in moving up to Blu-ray (or HD-DVD for that matter). There aren't enough good movies out yet and they're disturbingly overpriced (about 3X the cost of the DVD version at ma...
My PS3 controller cut out frequently (for ~5 seconds every hour or so of play). Sony told me that this was totally normal. I hope that the guitars don't do this too...
