I feel extremely confident that Halo 4 among other games will be released on PC as well. Windows 8 will be required. I think many PC gamers will be pleased when microsoft reveals Xbox live integration with PC this E3.
Yes its true they tried it before but i think they will get it right this time.
A very small percentage hate it.
When they say this game is going to be a straight port.....are they saying that we wont be able to at least play at native 1920X1080 resolution?? Im ok with no texture/shadow improvements but im not sure my eyes can take playing at low resolutuion like consoles.
Is it lazy or the fact that some people dont have time to play the game long enough to unlock all weapons?
Its nice to have the option to purchase them. More games should do the same.
Whats all this with developers saying they didnt have time to add certain things to their games??
If its not ready dont ship it.
This applies to Bioware too for not adding gamepad support for the PC version of Mass Effect because of not enough time. Add it in an update and i will buy your game. Not until then.
This may be true but when that mainstream audience finally sits down with a hardcore shooter, it wont take long for them to go back to what they usually play.
People seem to think they want a hardcore realistic shooter but most would quickly give up on it before they learn to be better at it.
Publishers know this. Thats why they wont risk big money on a game that will be traded in within a week after purchase no matter how great the game actually is.
This console would not be designed for the hardcore PC gamer. It would be designed to take a huge chunk of the console market and add them to the monstrous chunk of the PC market they already own.
Imagine a console that is built to be easily upgradable for any non-tech person. After the PS4/nextbox is out for a couple years this thing would already surpassed them in power with a simple upgrade.
PS4/Nextbox would have an early expiry date on them when they...
I agree. I have said for years that consoles should be upgradable but people have always seemed to think its a crazy idea.
They could have easy swappable parts liscenced by the console manufacturer. It would be like changing an old nintendo game cartridge.
No more would we have to wait years for more powerful hardware. Of course people wouldnt be forced to upgrade. They would run the game at regular settings while others will play at max settings.
I was about to post the same comment until i seen yours. Maybe one of the big reasons valve pulled cross-play with PS3--PC is because they are going to do it with their own console.
A steam console would use the same version of the game as PC. Therfore updates/patches will be released the same time for both without all the red tape that a patch must go through on a regular console.
The meaning of the word "console" is blurred over the past few years. Slowly consoles are becoming PCs. Before they could only play games. Now look at what they can do. The only real difference is its a closed non-upgradable platform that is overly controlled by the manufacturer.
What Valve might be trying to do is bridge that gap and make a device that both PC gamers and console players will want. Why buy the PS4/nextbox when it will only be outdated in a couple ...
Double post
Hopefully this halo will be available for PC since windows 8 and Xbox live will be combined. Might find out this week during GDC. Halo 4 maxed out on PC sounds pretty good to me.
Bring it on Valve. Take my money. Day one purchase if the console is upgradable. No more waiting 6+ years for new hardware.
@BattleAxe
Day one purchase for me also. An upgradable console which allows you to keep up with high end PCs without the complexity of building one will sure be a hit for non-tech people.
Personally i built my own high end PC but this certainly interests me. No more will we be confined by the rules and regulations of traditional console manufacturers.
I think its a great idea
I think its a great idea. Microsoft would certainly benefit. Users would have to buy the operating system and still have to pay an xbox live access fee. Console makers dont make much off consoles anyway. Its games, accessories and services that pull in the most cash.
@ginsunuva
No gamepad support for PC is one of the reasons i wont be buying it at all. If they are too lazy to include something so small then they dont deserve my money. I will buy another game.
If this means you can cross play COD multiplayer matches with PS3, then this will be great news. Otherwise im not that interested. Nothing less would be a 'game changer".
@CoLD FiRE
No it has nothing to do with aim assist. Games like Battlefield 3, Homefront and Black Ops supported gamepads and these games were great online with a controller.
There is very little difference in the "feel" of the gamepad when compared to console if they are actually supported well in PC games. No aim assist is needed for many gamepad users.
After seeing the Nintendo press conference i feel the WiiU is a Wii HD with a new gamepad that has yet to prove itself.
