No. I agree with Fishy. This article doesn't add anything new. It just gives quoted confirmation of something that should easily be assumed. Is the game done? Obviously not, or we'd have it in our hands as we speak. Therefore asking the question "Does it need more time?" is pretty redundant considering the obvious.
I think he's right on the money with his 2008-2009 estimates. PS3 still will be in last by the end of this year, but next year, we'll see God of War 3 & Final Fantasy XIII, which will both be immensely popular, and then there's a humongous list of exclusives coming to the PS3 over the course of time from now til the beginning of 2010, far far bigger than the lineup coming to 360 and Wii (well, if you don't count all the complete garbage that is inevitable for the Wii that is). And then ...
No interest for me.
"Contrary to the above statements, I am not to be considered a “graphics-whore” or a pixel counter, but this scaler business has scared me enough to keep from buying Sony’s product - (Wii60 ftw)."
What the hell? Who cares about this garbage.
First of all, he claims he's not a "graphics-whore" at the same time as he says he won't buy a PS3 because of the graphics capabilities? So I'm guessing he's not a gamer, either, because any gamer wort...
I liked the demo and when the IGN review came out, I read it looking for info on the multiplayer and got none. This is a PROPER review and it actually makes me want to play the game for the multiplayer which sounds pretty kickass. All of the problems that IGN had with the game besides graphical issues seem not to apply to the multiplayer based on this review's assessment of what the multiplayer has. You have your Mantel and Nectar you can play as, the abilities of the Promise Hand are appr...
I like this guy, he's got good points. Sure he seems to want to get out the word that the PS3 is doing well, but what's wrong with that, when you see all these people claiming that PS3 sucks or whatever because it's "delaystation" and it's in last place... but I think it's nice to get out the point that it's 1) sold very well, on a similar lifetime sales line as the 360, 2) it costs more, 3) other crap he said that you'll know if you watch the videos.
I'm all for def...
I'm hoping for another game starring Raiden. Raiden's a badass character with a kickass backstory and he was really fun to play in MGS2.
I wonder if we'll ever get to play his childhood as a kid soldier. That'd be kind of cool.
So far it's looking to me like next year's Sony lineup beats the pants off of Microsoft's, but that's because Microsoft doesn't really seem to have much lined up for next year yet except a couple of new IPs like Alan Wake and perhaps Huxley if that ever comes out. Tales of Vesperia is the only other 2009 exclusive I can think of right now for the 360, but I'm sure I'm forgetting something.
Either way, though, 2009 has Killzone 2, God of War 3, and probably Final Fantasy XIII o...
This is bull. No way. The story in the first Gears was nonexistent and uninteresting when it was going on. No game ever made by Epic has had a particularly good storyline.
I'll believe it when I see it.
You can't disagree with my above comment. It's impossible unless you're in the habit of ignoring reality.
I admitted I was wrong. I corrected my estimation to 130, which is accurate. I maintained that the article in question is of poor quality with inaccurate numbers. And it's a fact that 50-60 is farther away from 130 (or even 120 for those of you who prefer that OUTDATED number) than my original 150. 50-60 is between 70 and 80 off. 150 is between 20 and 30 off. So my n...
There is quite a lot about the text of IGN's review that set me off, but the primary thing is his lack of attention in regards to the multiplayer, especially as compared to how much focus he paid to the story. Half of the text was just him complaining that he didn't like the character or the story. I say big deal, there are tons of games out there with ridiculous machismo and stupid characters and a weak, even hammy story, that they give accolades to because, quite frankly, the story is not a...
I was wrong. I correct my number to 130, which is as accurate as you'll get.
What the hell do you want from me? I admitted I was wrong. And I was wrong by a far smaller amount than this article is wrong. This article is being touted as "news" so yeah I was correcting his flawed argument. It's unfortunate that I made an incorrect statement as well, but at least I had the sense to correct it and admit I was wrong when someone pointed out it out to me.
This game seriously looks like the hidden gem of 2008 in my opinion. I'm loving what I see so much that if it doesn't have a simultaneous worldwide release (or at least simultaneous in America and Europe), I'm definitely going to have to import it from Europe at launch. Gotta get my hands on this!
Look, it's my opinion that God of War games are more fun than Ninja Gaiden games. I prefer the cinematic qualities in God of War 2 vastly over Ninja Gaiden, admittedly it's been a while since I've played the first God of War, so I guess what I'm talking about is more of a comparison of Ninja Gaiden to God or War 2, but my point still stands that I think the pacing and puzzle-solving, action, combat abilities, story, and cinematic qualities of the God of War universe are more impressive and f...
OK. So, VoiceofReason, you're going to argue with me, and I'm guessing you're the source of my "disagrees" but ... you're not too accurate, yourself. 100% failure rate? Gimme a frakkin' break. 120 million is a low-ball number, as well, so next time you're going to try to prove that someone's not being accurate, the least you could do is be accurate yourself.
Uhhh, they're two totally different kinds of game.
If you want to compare Resistance to Call of Duty, go for it, but Gears of War is nothing close to similar.
Gears is small battles with hiding and peeking out to shoot. Resistance is huge and action-packed. One's a third-person, one's a first-person. I don't get the comparisons, and neither one is "mediocre" they're both among the greatest games of 2006 in my opinion.
OK. If I was wrong about 150, I wasn't as wrong as the linked website for the article was when they said 50-60.
That 127 was at the end of 2007.
They've done a few million more since then. I'm prepared to call it 130 million, anyone object to that?
I had a launch PS2 up until I got my PS3 w/ BC, then I sold my PS2. It still worked.
100% fail rate = BS.
Sure, it was probably pretty high, but not 100%.
I don't know a single person who ever bought more than one PS2. I have tons of friends who had or have one (obviously, doesn't everybody know a lot of people with a PS2?), and most of them either bought a PS2 fat and stuck with it (some of theirs broke, but they didn't buy another), and a lot o...
"If all 50-60 million of the PS2 owners upgraded to PS3s soon"
Actually, there are closer to 150 million than 50 million PS2 owners. Only about 13 million + 19 million + 25 million PS3s, 360's, and Wii's (respectively) have been sold, totalling about 57 million. Approximately 1/3rd of the total number of PS2 owners have purchased one of the three new systems.
And how many of those sales are from people who never owned a PS2, and either just bought a...
My most wanted features for the PS3:
1) Sleep timer when watching Blu-Ray movies.
2) Ability to send invites & messages to any of your friends while playing any game.
3) Ability to remain in your private chat while you launch a game, or launch a private chat while in-game (so if I'm playing a game of Hot Shots Golf I can talk privately to my friend who's playing Uncharted, for instance)
4) Date & time on the XMB, visible when...
