Really, I just want to say that this review is poorly written. It barely delves into the game. It's just a big experiment in how to attempt to turn your criticism into poetry. It fails to give any real incite into the true pros and cons of the game. Any actual negative points are brushed off immediately, and the entire thing just sounds... lazy.
Methinks you have bias, Happyface. Hint hint.
I've already got echochrome, but I'm about to purchase the Last Guy, Eden, and Novastrike.
I still say that the 360's numbers versus the PS3's numbers are pathetic considering they had a lead of 12 months in the US and Japan, and a 17-month lead over the PS3 in Europe, and they're offering their console at practically bargain-bin prices (cheaper than the Wii for the Arcade model) compared to the luxury tag affixed to the PS3. They should be mopping the floor with the PS3, and they simply aren't. That's a testament to Sony's accomplishments with the PS3, in my estimation.
They could say "we're losing!" Why not? After the Philadelphia Eagles got their asses handed to them by the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, head coach Andy Reid said "I need to coach better, Donovon McNabb needs to play better, the entire team needs to do better."
I thought it was cool of him to place the blame on everyone including himself and say "Hey, we suck! But we recognize this and we'll do better from now on."
I don't understand this website sometimes. What is with the users here? There is absolutely nothing to disagree with. I quoted an article and provided the link to the source.
The tone of the review makes it sound like they believe it is an amazing game that will be in people's PS3's clean through until the next Resistance comes out. So why an 8 out of 10? I think this game deserves better scores than its getting. Most unfairly criticized game of this fall.
I believe this is the first time I've seen a single source give Resistance 2 a higher score than Gears of War 2. IGN AU gave Gears 2 an 8.9, in comparison to Resistance 2 with a 9.3
I say good show! I'll have to come back to IGN AU and check out their reviews on a more regular interval, because I thought I'd never find a source that agreed with me on this: Both are great games, but Resistance 2 is my preference. It's just got such awesome weapons and it's so addictive with ...
@DemonStalker:
Hey, Enix was a great developer before Square merged with them. So don't blame Enix for Square's demise. Blame Square for the demise of both companies, as it was Square that pushed for conglomerate status and ended up f*cking RPG fans in the process. That merger took two great companies and turned them into one gigantic blob of bullsh!t. The only good games SquareEnix have released were all originally Enix properties (Valkyrie Profile 2, Dragon Quest VIII).
It's bet money that it's in-engine. Remember when Resistance 2 teaser came out and everybody was like "Nooo, that's not in-game"? Well guess what, it was in-game. And the God of War teaser is too. If you watch it closely, you can see how it would be done. They use visual trickery and special effects to make it come alive and look so absolutely unbelievably gorgeous. It's a lot of background sets that are actually full motion video wallpaper that helps it look so amazing. Just...
At the end of Quest for Booty, it says the next R&C will be coming out in Fall of 2009. Now, ordinarily I'd say that's a long ways away to put much stock in that date, but it's Insomniac. They're extremely reliable and always have a game ready in the fall.
Totally agree. Unreal Engine sucks ass. Gears 1, Gears 2, Unreal Tournament 3, Lost Odyssey, Last Remnant, Bioshock, and especially Mass Effect all have ridiculous texture pop-in problems. What the hell?
Kotaku's Killzone 2: Five Good Things article:
5.Combat Itself: Killzone 2 multiplayer manages to maintain the fluid speed of the single player experience without sacrificing the looks that get the game featured in so many “look how pretty this game is” magazine spreads. Combat takes place at the perfect speed for me - not Unreal quick, but not Lost Planet slow. Just right.
4. Spawning Mechanics: Dying in Killzone 2 multiplayer brings up a map of possible spawn p...
This is the most true statement I've ever read from a user on N4G.
People forget about timelessness.
Metal Gear Solid 4 deserves to be the game of the year because it is timeless. Regardless of how many MGS games ever come out from now on, that game will still be worth playing beceause future iterations will not have the same characters, story, locations, etc. Games like Gears 2 and Resistance 2 are great NOW, but in a couple of years nobody will be want them because t...
Contra: Shattered Soldier & The Red Star... two of my favorite games from the PS2. Just awesome games. Definitely get these games, people!
Why does everyone ignore the existence of Valkyria Chronicles (and Disgaea 3) when they make these little lists of the best blahblahblah?
Thanks for the response Why o why.
Yeah, it was the comment that someone brought up about the Wi-Fi which set me off to begin with haha.
Thanks for the response guys. It sounds good to me. I'm still not sure if it's worth 15 USD a month to me, though. I get plenty of enjoyment out of my console games that I haven't yet felt the need to play World of Warcraft. If any of my friends that used to play get into it again, though, maybe I'll join up with them and really delve deeply into it.
Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated. Is the level cap increase only for people who pay for the expansion, or does every player see the cap increase on the date of the expansion's release?
I guess you could call it amazing. I played the L4D demo and didn't have that much fun. It was OK. Not a bad time by any stretch, but it didn't seem like the kind of game I'd have any incentive to go back to over and over again, so I'll wait until it can be had on the cheap before I try the full product. Resistance 2 is my multiplayer game of the year. Berserks and an addictive rank up system make it stand out from the pack and keep me coming back for more.
