This game already has more than twice as many "Positive" (Green, 75+) scores on Metacritic than Ryse got, and with only a little more than half as many total reviews. So it's a divisive game. There are a lot of people who are really liking it, and a lot of people who are really NOT liking it. This is the definition of a MIXED response. Everything I've read, it sounds like the kind of game I would personally enjoy. A lot of people will just not be into it at all. It doe...
Sounds like my kind of game! I don't shy away from cutscene heavy games, after all Metal Gear Solid is one of my all-time favorite franchises. I also don't shy away from QTE's. I loved ShenMue, Heavy Rain, and the God of War combat sequences that culminate in QTEs. Each gamer has different taste in what's fun and immersive for them, and while I understand this game is divisive in that the style of presentation and gameplay it has will not appeal to many gamers, I personall...
I love videogames, but I'm not a particularly skilled player. I also like to take my time with games I enjoy, and explore them. It took me over 25 hours of play-time to beat God of War 3, despite all the articles talking about how short it was and how it could be beaten in 3 hours. It usually takes me more than average to beat a game. Some games are legitimately very short, I can think of Wanted and Matt Hazard that I beat in under 5 hours each, but I doubt this game will be anywhere ...
LOVE this move!
Rather than a numerical score, I do think there is room for a system of meaningful attributes, similar to a score but more of a recommendation or categorization. I haven't thought TOO deeply on this, so I'm sure my first draft here has room for refinement and improvement, but here's what I had in mind (more or less):
For fans of the genre/franchise:
F1) Most fans will be happy to own this at full price.
F2) Most fa...
Sony has had an indie games fund for years now. They help lots of small developers get their games funded, and for that they could be looked at as angel investors (this is a meaningful term, I'm not actually comparing them to angels, haha). Since Sony is giving money to people to make games, those people are making their games for Sony platforms. It's pretty simple, really, and there's absolutely NOTHING negative about it.
It looks so much like a Souls game it's crazy! Except to me this game seems much more difficult. I played the Alpha and had a very rough time with it. I'm just not good at this style of character in the Souls games. I turtled my way through all 3 Souls games... Shield up with a spear, sniping with my bow, etc. Slow and defensive. In the alpha, that was impossible. There wasn't even a shield at all! If there really aren't shields in this game and your defense essentiall...
So what happens with the games that are currently available, like DC Universe Online? Will anything be changing with how the game operates and its model? I like DC Universe Online and the Everquest games. H1Z1 didn't look like it was going to be for me. Planetside 2 looks cool, I hope it still comes out this year on PS4.
Hmmm. I mean, I agree that it's a little odd the amount of hate that The Order is getting in comparison to the very positive response to Gears of War when they look so similar, but calling it a juvenile name like "Queers of War" is really not going to help to convince anyone who didn't already agree with you :)
I liked the first Gears of War game, and thought the story, characters, and overall setting took a small dive in the 2nd game, and a huge drop off a...
Awesome! Been waiting on Transistor, wanted to play it a lot, but was hoping it would come to PS+ some day. Great timing! Also, Rogue Legacy! Nice! Not sure what Apotheon is, but I'll gladly give it a play at the price of free :)
Yes please. I love the franchise.
This is fantastic news! I've been a Spotify subscriber for 2 years and I LOVE the service. About 85% (just a rough estimate) of my favorite music happens to be on the service, so I rarely have to get my music elsewhere. Can't wait to have it on my playstation!
I loved the first game and never got around to playing 2 or the Pre-Sequel. So this is a good chance to someday give those a play, I'd rather get a remastered collection of the two down the road than to buy the originals, I actually don't even have my PS3 or 360 hooked up at the moment, so there's that aspect of it as well. I'm glad they're releasing this, but I won't buy it until I can get it for about 30 bucks probably. I can wait (I've been waiting years alre...
I'm honestly curious why my comment gets mostly disagrees. Can't somebody reply and tell me what's so disagreeable about what I said? In my personal experience, with my play style & the way that I'm personally skilled at playing the Souls games, that play style approach is not viable in Bloodborne, and therefore I had a difficult time adjusting to the gameplay. If there is anything that isn't factually accurate about that statement, please educate me.
The alpha of Bloodborne was far more difficult than any of the Souls games for me. I'm used to playing souls games with a turtle style, shield out, long-range attacks or magic. Not at all viable in the Bloodborne alpha, and most likely not in the full game. There is no shield for god's sake! It completely changes how you play the game. My play style is no longer supported, so the adaptation for me is very difficult and I'm not sure I'll even be able to complete the game, ...
It's all a matter of taste. For some reason there seems to be a rather vocal group out there who hates this kind of game. Personally, I love this kind of game. Anything that has something in common with Uncharted 2, ShenMue, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, even perhaps Metal Gear Solid, which is loaded with story scenes, and the TellTales games (which everyone seems to love, but for some reason that kind of thing is unacceptable when it's part of, and not even the entire focus of, T...
Doesn't seem like a lot of job security in this kind of position. These game studios let people go after a game is completed all the time (sometimes even before a game is completed).
Seems like a fair price to me, but I've already played all the PS3 games that are available on this service that actually interest me, so I won't be subscribing.
Yeah, that's a PC with a controller-friendly user interface, that's meant to look good under your television. Other than that, it isn't a console. It's not a closed environment, it doesn't have optimized software being developed for it, and it isn't even a uniform hardware platform, it comes in different variations of power with different components under the hood, exactly like a PC. It's a PC, just one that's meant to act a little bit more like a console, b...
Anything that tries to use Metacritic user scores to make an argument should just be discounted outright. The user scores are beyond useless.
As of right now (things have apparently changed slightly since the December 19th reference date in Nintendo's ad) there is only 1 game combined between PS4 & Xbox One that has both an 85 Metascore and an 8.5 user score: The Last of Us Remastered. That's out of 36 games that have an 85 Metascore. Or just 2.8% of the games ...
@WeirdShroom, I'm not about to claim that the reviews are right or wrong, because a review is just a person's opinion, and different gamers have different tastes, and I haven't even played this game. But to make a statement like "the haters were right" just doesn't mean anything, because the "haters" are the same people who are now reviewing the game. You expected all of the pundits who reported not liking what they saw during the previews, to then go ahe...
