Insomniac = Exclusive to the PS3, and a very capable developer of games and PS3 Technology.
EPIC = A very capable developer of some classic franchises and technology. 3rd party dev. for MS and Sony. Releases games on both consoles and uses technology developed for one game on all subsequent projects. Has released UT3 and has stated that the PS3 is a capable machine and likes the openness of the PSN.
Conclusion:
GoW2 being a great game won't be only good for MS ...
Its good to note that no matter what Gears of War 2 looks like, EPIC is not 360 exclusive so expect any improvements to the Unreal Engine to appear on the PS3 in some for or another in the future, especially with the success of Unreal Tournament 3.
Sorry to point out this fact for all the 360 fans who are tooting their horn right now, but its good to have someone to bring you down to Earth when you get out of hand. Now with that in mind, I haven't seen enough of either R2 or GoW ...
Maybe its like modeling where people agree to a free photo shoot and in return the photographer gets to promote himself and the model gets a free set of expensive pictures to do the same.
But it does seem like a bit of an exploitation if the way you put it is how it works, I would be very interested in finding out what the logistics are but I'm too lazy to go online and look them up. LOL.
Sony obviously pushed the envelope when designing the PS3, and the first year they really paid the price for this. Its good to hear them taking a proactive approach to reaching out to other developers.
I believe that this will be the new pattern for console companies to take as making games becomes more complicated.
What can be said about Insomniac? Sony is lucky to have them on board, and should do anything they want to make sure it stays that way.
If I were MS and N...
I think Sony really made a statement this GDC by treating it like a Game Developers Conference.
We witnessed other companies acting as if GDC were E3 and trying to recapture lost momentum, but Sony calmly went and introduced what they had to and made little to no announcements.
As I have said in the past Sony has a very capable machine and a large stable of developers working for them. We will see things that are incredible soon, its the reason why all us PS3 purchas...
Its a sad day in US history when even activities designed for fun have to be scrutinized to this degree.
The terrorist have won by instilling fear into the heart of the US government and its citizens and each day we are falling farther into the pit of fear.
I wonder in researching this new plan, how much do they really expect to find. Its like the war on drugs where the results and effectiveness of the program are much less than the money being spent on it. This is s...
I guess in your case the old saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure" applies to you perfectly. Kudos for making lemonade out of a pile of rotten, stinky lemons.
The first track, Vineta K sounds really cool with the underwater portions, can't wait.
It seems like this is the next big frontier for MS and Sony, getting the independent, small developers to put their new IPs on their network.
Unique content is what will separate each console, and give it another bullet point against the competition. I believe that MS's policy of A) Capping the size of these games and B) Rumors of them cutting the royalties these small devs receive, will work to making PSN the place to go for small developers.
Every day we hear of So...
You wouldn't be saying that if you really wanted this game and you had one of the machines with no HD. MS made a choice so now they have to live with it.
The co-op in this game looks sweet.
Interesting view, yet PC shooters have had 64 players with no problem. You fail to mention that it all depends on how they handle that amount of people. I think your argument is a bit thin, especially when I can find examples that contradict the concerns you bring up.
Bungie had some respect from my end, but now this guy just sounds bitter that Insomniac is doing something with their second game in the Resistance series that Bungie could do in 3 iterations of their Halo games.
His comment would hold some weight if 60 people had never been done, but PC gaming has been doing this for a while now and from what I have heard there seems to be no problems once the massive amount of people are managed correctly.
Insomniac is a capable company t...
Can be brutal. Just imagine if you tried to create something new and innovative, spent your time and energy on it just to have it torn apart by the media and gaming fanatics.
I know its a tough business, but sometimes people can really go above and beyond when they could just demonstrate their dissatisfaction in a more civilized way. I think it did hold some water the excuse that hard core gamers probably weren't use to the motion controls and that made it more difficult, and tho...
Mr. Marbles has lost his marbles. What a fool.
But as a gamer, lover of technology and a car fanatic, I have to say that this is the most technically advanced racing experience on ANY console bar none. I say racing experience because it would be a disservice to Poliphany to just refer to the GT franchises as games.
If anyone says otherwise they are just being jealous D!CK necks that need not be heard. Many have tried but generation after generation has demonstrated that Poliphony Digital is a car fans dream developer, and its...
Nice attempt at backtracking once you got called out, LOL.
You work and have "mates"? The fact that your old enough to work and you actually have friends makes the quality of the comments you leave on this site even more alarming.
::walks away upset and confused::
The tech they showed was cool, from a gaming perspective. Nice simulation of different materials and substances.
I wish I could use the excuses this guy is using if I F##K up on the job. Blame competition in a format war? Haha.
"The only reason I lost that fight was because that other guy was throwing punches, if he hadn't I would have totally pwned him." Hahaha, what a fool.
If they would have just accepted defeat I would have had more respect for Toshiba, but this sort of BS excuse reminds me of some of the BS excuses I hear about why the PS3 is gaining momentum. I...
Where has Sony reps looked uncomfortable when KZ2 is brought up? I'm just wondering if you have a quote or comment for that so I can see for myself as people on this site just like to state things with little to no evidence or logical basis.
Was there an interview I missed or something, I would really appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction for that info.
