Although I do wish bladestar would take a chill pill, yeah it's cool to get (GOOD!) cross-platform work.
Live Anywhere would be nice too. Do I care about play between 360 and PC gamers, really? No. But it it better to see more people online and available for matchmaking? Absolutely.
Best launch ever? Xbox 360 hit 5 million consoles faster than any console in history. 360 did it with software and online service attach rates that spun heads in the industry (something like 4+ and over 50%). The attach as well as download conversion rates on Geometry Wars for Arcade redefined the way game business is done online (something like over 50% attach and a conversion rate of 80+%). And all of that happened is a year without the "big guns" of Halo 3, Gears of War, Mass Eff...
Via major Nelson:
1200 points for the base (incomplete) game
+600 points for the "Advanced pack" (still incomplete)
Add-on packs to follow:
* Artist Pack featuring music video skins like the Madonna “Sorry” music video that was used to sell the game in the first place.
* Mission/Puzzle Pack featuring new skins and puzzles, but still not completing the game.
* VS CPU Mode Pack finally finishing the game by flushing out the CPU...
Maybe you missed the often multi-million-dollar anti-Apple campaigns following the iPod's release? The lawsuits trying to get Apple to pay for replacements? Maybe not. And yes, this is standard with non-replacable batteries. That's why they're called non-replacable.
You also have to remember Sony's multiple statements that they're trying to stop the used market (even if we tend to focus on the games side of things). They don't want you putting new batteries in it, and it's enti...
The "deal" is that most parents (and executives, and politicans) are too retarded to "get" the ratings system and its usefulness.
See also: "It's okay if my kid shoots up crack to increase his strength and beats a prostitute to her bloody doom to steal back his money, but if her breasts are too exposed, then I'm going to sue the company!"
This ad is just more confirmation that at least one quarter of Americans are functionally retard...
I choose to add my agreement here.
HAHAHAHAAH!

Oh, wait, you haven't actually downloaded the new IE yet, have you?
My second action after trying to view a webpage in it was to uninstall it. Firefox is my ONLY browser now, not just my primary.
Wow, 360 won't dominate in 12% of the gaming world. Ouch. (heh)
Seriously, though. The pre-orders for the PS3 were going to sell out even if a single customer wasn't actually in line. The number of people who want to resell them on eBay is bigger than Sony's planned launch delivery. Just like with the 360. But maybe not with the Wii, and then only because Nintendo looks like it will have so many units at launch.
People still don't get this... so let's try it again...
THE GEARS OF WAR TEAM HAS HAD THIS EXACT SAME POLICY ON THE DEMO SINCE THE PROJECT WAS ANNOUNCED, THEY HAVE MADE PUBLIC STATEMENTS SUPPORTING THAT POLICY SINCE THAT TIME, AND THEY HAVE NEVER SAID ANYTHING DIFFERENT ABOUT DEMO POSSIBILITIES!!! THIS IS NOT NEWS!!!!
BTW: Having a demo post-launch is pretty standard. Devs get the game out sooner and spend all their time making it great, then get the demo out aft...
"When I played GT 4, I probably didn't buy but 15 or so cars anyways. "
Can you even beat the game with that few cars? lol
And ^that^ is how spyware survives in the modern market, folks!
Why was this update approved as news? Shoudnlt we be linking all the other developer diaries out there, then?
During the 3 months prior to March 2006, Microsoft as a company made over $10Billion in profits. The game division is expensive, sure, but it barely makes a dent in the overall picture.
By the time of launch, Sony will have invested on the order of $2B on the PS3, counting all aspects. Sony's ENTIRE company (all divisions) only makes about $1.5B in profit per YEAR.
So with this loss (which is smaller than PS3's initial investment- not even looking another year do...
Top Japanese developer support? You mean like Square/Enix, Capcom, Namco, Mistwalker and Team Ninja?
Yeah, I think they're doing okay.
(just had to say it. heh.)
Sooo... this game is basically in the vein of Star Wars: Battlefront and such? Lots of games like that manage huge numbers of players too...
Interesting to see, but I thought this title was more of a "straight" shooter. Interesting.
The one valid complaint: This game is sslllloooowwww.... it needs a boost on the order of 2x-4x as fast to get up to interesting speeds. This does concern me greatly...
The game seems to have a very stable framerate, a very stable build, and very solid action. But under the hood, it's moving at about a fourth of the speed it should be going.
Why, exactly, would a dev make a game at a slower pace, and then suddenly ratched up the game's base speed in the last mont...
Actually, Microsoft have confirmed that the 360 can output HDMI-compatible digital 1080p. Micorsoft is just waiting for demand to be high enough to be worth releasing the cables for it.
(And remember: Games can do 1080p over Component cables. The movie industry just doesn't want films to do so.)
And since the PS3 doesn't come with HDMI cables either, that means the two systems basically have the exact same support for 1080p.
I still don't get why people like Virtua Fighter so much. The controls are overcomplicated, its competitors have smoother gameplay and better graphics....
The original was a landmark event in console gaming- I do admit that. But watch the newest Virtua Fighter vids and try to spot one thing (other than prettier backgrounds) that the game has on DOA4.
I've seen character in the new VF do (literally!) the exact same combos, with the exact same "signature"...
Remember what happened just before the channell TNN went under? It was playing Star Trek and Man Show reruns almost 24/7.
Remember what happened when SpikeTV almost went under? It was playing ST and The Man Show 24/7.
Remember what happened when G4 went under? It was playing ST and The Man Show 24/7.
Two years from now:
Remember when E! went under? It was playing...

Fox and Universal pulled out. So what? Peter Jackson and Microsoft have the bank, now they're looking for a distributor. Work on the Halo movie continues apace.
Proof that they're going to make this movie and make it right. So it costs too much? Pfeh! Small change for M$ so long as the results look promising.
