I can't wait for PS5, zero interest in xbox.
Absolutely, can't wait!
What does what someone thinks about the the game have to do with the tech involved with running it?
Well it's good to hear the game sold well. They're a dev with a long history of weird and unique games so I'm happy to hear they can keep on doing what they do.
ChristopherJack, we're not talking about PC, we're talking about a closed platform in which only SSD exists.
PC doesn't show improvement from SSD because the games are made to run on HDD so the potential of the SSD isn't being programmed for at all.
The entire game programming pipeline will change for games that are written only for SSD.
You don't think adding raytracing will improve the image? And that's just one simple visual element. PS5 will improve PSVR, and PSVR will improve many if not all of the other factors.
PSVR isn't meant to be the best of the best it's meant to be affordable. The 4K headsets are aimed at people for which money isn't an object who can spend $600+ just on the headset not to mention the top of the line PC that can power it. You can get into VR on the PS4 for $500 total, less than the cost of the cheapest 4k VR and - the entire cost of the PC.
Now, I'm not speaking for anyone else, but my PS4 library is almost all exclusives. Mind you, not just Sony exclusives but games that are exclusive to the PlayStation 4. When it comes to AAA multi-platform games I almost always get them on PC except things like Control which was on PSNow so I played it there. Conversely most Japanese games I get on PS4 even if there is a PC release.
What you just said is untrue, first off it would depend on what your loading. If it's just a bunch of small files then yes maybe you'll only see a couple seconds difference. But if your loading 8 GB of textures into RAM the difference is going to be massive.
But it's not just about loading textures on the consoles, it's about being able to program your game with out having to take into account HDD. Game development can fundamentally change around the SSD...
Many people have a PC right now that is more powerful than SX and even more are just an upgrade away, RDNA2 GPU's are right around the corner.
But regardless, even if only 25% of people just stick with PC that's a huge loss to sales right out of the gate for xbox.
BTW which company has more brand loyalty do you think?
Sony didn't say anything like this.
In fact Sony rarely says anything about Microsoft unlike Microsoft who seemingly can't do a single interview with out mentioning Sony.
Yea, the split memory thing was such a weird decision. It seems like the cost savings are rather pointless especially when their efforts seem so obsessed with power. It's like they didn't learn from their ESRAM blunder last gen.
I should also point out that M.2 on PCIe 3 is around 7 times as fast as a SATA III SSD and PCIe 4 is theoretically up to twice as fast as PCI 3.
And PCIe 3.0 M.2 is about 35 times as fast as mechanical hard drives.
Ok, I just want to point out that in the context of a console where it's a closed system and you can program your software specifically with the knowledge that every user will have a SSD will allow games to be programmed differently then they have been in the past where they had to take into account users who had mechanical hard drives.
You use a SSD on your PC but the people who made the game made it to work on HDD so the only benefit you get from your SSD is faster lo...
Cool I'm not worried about power either, that's why I am getting a PS5.
I am actually really excited about Tempest, I imagine something like Uncharted in VR in a jungle where all the animals can be heard positionally in 3D all with movement instead of only 3 or 4 things.
I imagine listening to the movements of the enemies as they move around causing a flock of birds to take flight and fly over your head in full 3D motion sound while a breeze rustles the leaves from behind you to your front of you as a panther sneaks up behind you ect.
Shut up with that quarantine BS.
You said something incorrect and I corrected you, then if anyone got bent out of shape it was you.
I don't believe that Phil is going to be able to tell 2k hey you have to give everyone a free upgrade if they want to put RDR2 on next gen same with Bethesda or Activision when they was to re-release CoD games or any other company. I mean, this is a fight directly at the profits of these publishers. The end result is just going to be less next gen versions of games as publishers say "it's not worth the time to remaster our games". Or they say "well screw Xbox only Pla...
Obviously if you can you want to download any patches. But it's not needed which is the implication of your comment. And let's not exaggerate the need of the day one patches. I don't know of any games that are so broken that with out patching they can't be played or even beaten with out the updates.
"Who cares?"
Exactly how I feel about the 2 terraflops.
