Yes, after 20 years of making relatively high budget critically acclaimed single player RPG what they really wanted to make was a low budget mulitplayer minecraft-alike clearly made for kids with obvious avenues for MTX'ing parents...

It's all just coincidence that after being bought by Microsoft to make games for gamepass... and the fact that several other studios are making similar low budget gamepass filler games has no relation... it&...

This isn't about third party games, this is about Microsoft's first party being held back by the base xbone.

No, that's like saying I am going to use paint instead of Photoshop... I want a professional configurable recording solution. Using gamebar means I would have to reedit those clips in post process instead of just setting OBS to make the original files how I want them.

"“Systems integration and whole-system performance. Bringing in data from high-bandwidth storage into video memory in its native format with hardware decompression is very efficient.“

Sure it's just that the PS5 does it more than twice as fast.

Maybe Tim just likes Sony more.

PCIe 4 drive prices have already come down a ton Zen 2 launched. The thing is that the 5000MB/s SSD's are basically still using PCIe3 controllers. As newer controllers become more widely available the price will go down and the speed will go up.

And since Sony decided to allow you to add off the shelf SSD's instead of a proprietary expansion card like Microsoft as prices come down PlayStation owners will benefit from market competition.

MS is also seeing up to 60% compresion rates with its new engine that decompresses realtime whereas Sony is seeing around 30% - so thats up to 30% more data ms can decompress per cycle to catch up to Sony's data transfer.. The end result is pretty close to a wash.

You just made that up.

PS5 has a decompression throughput of 9GB/s. There is no way an SSD that has 2.4 GB/s is some how making up 6.6 GB/s from compression... at best xbox's throughpu...

So whats the other side of the coin?

If your company chose to skimp on the biggest change of the generation (as declared by devs like Epic and both Sony and Microsoft) with an SSD that's less than half the speed you have to downplay it constantly?

Why do you always have to turn to insults?

And why do I have to want Microsoft to do well? No one complains when someone says they want to see VR fail or they want to see Stadia fail or they want to see Death Stranding or The Last of Us 2 fail.

I think Microsoft and many of it's fans wants to see Sony fail...

Sorry, not sorry.

The PS5 SSD is more than twice as fast and that includes compression PS5 is using a custom designed version of Kraken that has 9GB/s throughput.

Hardware-based compression

Compression is a huge part of the PlayStation 5's data management. The console will have a powerful new compression system that essentially shrinks data and reduces the overall install size of data on your SSD. So not only will games have less redundant assets, they can be smaller...

If they are using the PS5's SSD to the fullest to load textures factually the SX SSD couldn't keep up. It's not marketing that the PS5 SSD is more than twice as fast as the SX SSD.

They would have to reduce draw distance or lower texture quality to make up for the difference in speed.

2108d ago 38 agree17 disagreeView comment

This is incorrect, first off PCIe 4 is available for PC. Second xbox PCIe3 SSD is 2.4.GB/s where as many PCIe 3 SSD's have over 3GB/s so while SX has a decent SSD it's not even top of the line for PCIe 3.

2108d ago 43 agree8 disagreeView comment

What does that have to do with it? PS5 is faster at both... PS5 has 5.5GB/s uncompressed and 9GB/s compressed throughput.

What if I answer yes but I still don't want an xbox?

And what if people don't want consoles to end up like mobile gaming?

shaggy2303, that's not what happened at all though. Sony just showed the controller it wasn't the the same day, or even a response to anything Microsoft did. Here you have a situation where Epic praised PS5 and literally the same day Phil was talking about himself and UE5 and trying to steal the thunder.

You guys don't seem to understand the difference between trying to promote your own product (Sony) and trying to damage or steal someone else's press (Micr...

You're the one crying over a comment I made that clearly hit way to close to home...

And no... there are clearly differences in the way the three companies promote themselves... and hint only one of them is constantly belligerent. You want to bring it back to PS3... fine I'll take it back to Microsoft openly declaring the original xbox goal was to take down Sony. And let's not forget who started this "console war" during the 360 having monthly sales...

DJStotty, what did you scour the internet to find the most expensive SSD's you could? First off my understanding is that the PS5 will have an actual M.2 port in the same way the PS2 PS3 and PS4 had so you won't need any enclosure.

Here is a more accurate view at the cost of replacing PS5's SSD
