It wouldn't be for your reasons though. I'd vote for it because of having fun, the whole reason I play games. I don't give a damn about the industry or historical significance or even if it was a success or failure. I enjoyed playing it, more than any other machine and the fondness I have for it is directly related to that.
Games like:
Soul Calibur, Skies of Arcadia, Time Stalkers, NFL2K, NHL2K, Speed Devils, Seaman, RE: Code Veronica, Marvel -vs- Capcom (and 2), All the...
This is what I will do also. I played through that game 3 times (the last time for the trophies) so I've certainly got my $ out of it and they have been more than supportive of their game for over a year.

As a long time gamer and having many many friends who are gamers I posted a question to them recently asking if they let review scores influence their purchases.
Most of them don't. In fact I don't think it's ever been an issue with me. I go by word of mouth from my friends over anything else. I'll read reviews, but I can pretty much tell what games I'll like without needing a review score.
I've bought games with good reviews I hated and I've bought games with poo...
Let's use 2 games for instance. Each reviewed 10 times.
One game gets scores of: 100, 100, 100, 100, 100, 90, 90, 90, 90, and 60. For an average of 92. Without that anomalous 60 in there, the score would have been 95.5.
Another game gets scores of: 70, 70, 70, 70, 70, 65, 65, 60, 60, and 100. For an average of 70. Without that anomalous 100 in there, the score would have been 66.7.
As you can see, no-one would complain if the 2nd game averaged a 7...
I usually toss out the top few reviews and the bottom few reviews. It gives you a much better look at a game. This is also not review site specific. I have no particular places I "always look".
An anomalous review sticks out like a sore thumb. It's quite common on major games. Hell, look at Uncharted. That one anomalous score at the bottom brings the entire score down below a 90. Silly to even get worked up about it.
In the Killzone 2 example 49 revi...
Pokemon would be on there. There have been a ridiculous number of them sold and it's milked pretty hard.

There are a lot of talented people out there, it's cool to see the fruits of their labors.

You should upgrade ~900 or so! :D

Seconded.

...but silver members need to purchase something like $500 in merchandise with the reward zone program every 3 months or so. My math may be a little fuzzy, but it's certainly beyond my spending habits at best buy since I'm still a "blue" member.

I am a gamer, so I jumped on the PS3 ship early. My college buddies who are all gamers, but not quite as into it as me are all slowly starting to get on board and put down their PS2's. As they ship me emails and such telling me they got the PS3 I ask them what made them jump on board. The answer I hear most is that the games they want to play are adding up to a point that it was worth coming over. Most consumers don't buy game systems for one game.
I think with HDTV adoption ...
Which is entirely dependent on revenue, not profit.

Revenue sir, revenue.
-CadDad
At half the price you need to make twice the sales to equal revenue.

Bioshock would have been rated harder, so would have Halo 3. Both were hype monsters. I think it's just a preference thing. Every once in awhile it's ok to give a 10/10. Maybe once or twice a year as a review place.
If the scale is 1-10, 5 should be average and we should see as many 1's as we see 10's. Just me though, I rarely care what scores a game gets.

It's long, but a good read.

I've believed for years that "beta" testing and "patches" on consoles are completely unnecessary.
PC games need these things because it's impossible to get it right on the first shot for every hardware configuration out there for PC's. On consoles, the hardware is the same throughout, so the testing you are doing should play out at or very near the same on every machine it's designed for. Allowing broken games to go to retail, along with the tendency to im...
Was it really necessary to do the whole song?

Sword of Vermillion (on the PSP one)
Gunstar Heroes
Dynamite Heady
Toe Jam and Earll
Road Rash
Eternal Champions
I could probably go on, but I definitely enjoy the collection as is. My son is experiencing these games for the first time (he's 5) and they enthrall him as much as the new ones do.
*EDIT* Cool! Got it a few days ago, haven't got to that one yet!
Add Earthworm Jim also! Love that one.
