Bit unfair that. Publishers have their ear firmly to the ground when there are copyright claims/infractions etc. Like act pretty quick, but in this instance a little unfair of them to not give a heads-up to a well-known and highly anticipated project. It's not like it's just a some random clothing item or a single new quest. it's way more than that which is plain to see.
TBF, HGs won the developer lottery with their SONY partnership. The hype surrounding the original release was astronomical which meant the sales they got enabled small studio HG could basically retire. This has led them to just chill and keep updating the game to their original vision and beyond by offering free updates which in-turn generates more sales across PS, Xbox and PC platforms.
Now not every developer is this lucky and won't necessarily get that initial $$$. ...

As a PCVR user (RTX 4090 PC), playing games that weren't meant for VR even with a gamepad is way better than playing flatscreen. Not enough people buying the hardware. The strategy from the get-go should have been these hybrid releases and as mentioned in the article, some form of wizardry like Praydog's UEVR mod for older Playstation titles converted into VR with very little effort once the software is sorted.
