Mentioned Uncharted 3 = damage control. This has nothing to do with Uncharted 3.
The Xbox 360 version of BF3 looks better than the PS3 version. Deal with it.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
We should know by now to never consider a game's playtime for most gamers based on a speed run.
Brink was released in May
@Gamer1982 Was trying to take all aspects into account. ICO Collection didn't sell well but has matched Gears of War 3 on Metacritic. Certainly can't call that a failure. Resistance 3 didn't sell well AND also scored lower than expected.
And Deus Ex metacritic'd at 89. Not a failure.
Forza was a strong consideration, but I certainly felt ICO should be listed and wanted to keep it 3 a side.
Had strongly considered listing this one, but it was a great game that didn't sell like a success, and scored a little lower than a lot of people expected, so it fell on the fence. I went with the more definitive titles.
Dead Island doesn't even allow the "analog" attack control with mouse and keyboard. And it launched with a bug that made the strafing stutter, only on keyboard. So the control scheme that most people play on the PC to use was crippled from the start. Exiting menus with the mouse caused an automatic attack. There wasn't even an option to enable Vsync built in, or any other video options for that matter. And if you actually followed the gamma instructions, the game looked horr...
Nothing about the quotes was "out of context," for one. He fully explained that he believes that PCs are not the lead platform for gaming. Not sure how you could take that wrongly.
For another, the article discusses the horrendous PC versions of Dead Island as well as Rage, and how it's increasingly common for the PC versions of multiplatform games to be afterthoughts.
Sure, there's a lot of emphasis placed on a damning quote by an influenti...
Actually, that's not quite the point of the article...
Fair enough. I would consider "senseless" a gross exaggeration of the game and the result of emotionally-charged vitriol.
FMV being a better alternative? I loved The Beast Within back in the day, but FMV has run its course. The most theatrically impressive games these days are just motion-captured 3D animation. I can't think of a single situation over the past few years where FMV becomes a better alternative. We're well beyond the days of Wing Commander 3. ...
It's all opinion, of course. And you're certainly entitled to yours. But like you said, it's an unpopular opinion, so you're definitely gonna catch flak for it, and especially on a gaming discussion site.
It's certainly not perfect, but it certainly feels like a step forward rather than a step back.
And inconsistent or no, it's made me much more interested in the next story that Quantic Dream will tell rather than the next tired FPS.
Even if it isn't a complete success, thank god someone is trying to do something different. Quantic Dream is one of the only developers trying to adapt the adventure game genre to the current generation.
I'm sorry, but if you're concerned with the forwarding and maturation of the game industry, you would be welcoming Heavy Rain with open arms.
Let's applaud the developers who still have the balls to put a narrative in the forefront of a game. They're sorely needed.
For multiplayer junkies, NOW is when you buy.
For anyone expecting a decent single-player campaign, just pass. Don't even bother.
LOL at the link saying the single-player was the good part.
Unfortunately, looks to be buried under a troll
@3m1ll
The only other two games on our site to earn a 5/5 this year were Portal 2 and The Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection.
One multiplatform and one PS3-exclusive. We sure are a total Xbox fansite.
The Founding Fathers also intended separation of church and state. Like that ever happened.
Cept then they'd tell you that video games drove you to violence and to kill
Two articles covering the scariest moments in gaming and no mention of anything from Amnesia: The Dark Descent or anything of the Penumbra games?
