EVE is such an awesome concept and a game world that I envy to be in. But I've never, EVER come across such a steep learning curve.
You're on my wavelength, but maybe I underestimated the amount of people who may be new to the franchise.
"Hell no one mentions it after 2!"
That's kind of the point.
It's not about detesting a company at all... The Mario Kart games are undeniably fun. What's interesting is the double-standard. The Mario Kart franchise hit its high point on N64, the second release of 7. Franchises are regularly vilified for doing what this one has done.
Not that Mario Kart deserves to be vilified. My point is just that it is perhaps getting a bit too much credit for stalling, while ModNation Racers is getting too little for innovating.
The single player campaign is really nothing to write home about.
The fact that this is the first South Park game to actually be written and consulted by Trey Parker and Matt Stone sold me. I'll be getting this.
Oh I 100% agree that the touch screen controls will never evolve to equality. But while using an external controller would be a blow to portability, a lot of people aren't going to treat that as a deal breaker. It would still certainly be more portable than a PS3 or an Xbox 360, and more capable than a pocket system.
It'll be interesting to see exactly where it goes, but the trend is firmly in place. And besides, you know someone's going to add dual analogs to a t...
The point is in how quickly the trend is moving and shows no signs of changing. Of course today they're not even close, but they're exponentially closer than they were even a year ago.
@Dark_Overlord
Yes it is based on the same architecture as there was no reason for them to build one from the ground up. But it's still a new engine.
By the time Fallout: New Vegas hit, Gamebryo was dated, hence the Creation Engine.
Just look at some of the community made mods out for Skyrim already. The engine is certainly powerful enough.
BUT, Bethesda also has shown the habit of trying a little too hard to squeeze extra life out of a dated engine <cough>Fallout: New Vegas</cough>. I wonder if the Creation Engine will suffer the same fate, or if it will prove to be more scale-able?
Troll much?
Well thanks for being such a nice guy.
When I said, "The tongue-in-cheek is lost on this one," I was pointing out that the remark I made apparently went way over your head, and it's even more painfully obvious now. It was a sarcastic (read: tongue-in-cheek) understatement regarding the time that this game demands of the player, hence the "(life)". I certainly spent more than a day on it in order to properly review it, but you wouldn't know that bec...

@morganfell I'm sure people didn't create the VGAs with the idea of not wanting to be taken seriously. They shouldn't be, as aficionados understand, but not the general public. You may be surprised at how many people do in fact think that they are the ultimate discussion of a year of gaming. And you will not find the majority of the gaming public on N4G.
@NeoBasch You're of course entitled to disagree, and you make an interesting argument. It's just not on...
Actually, I said that L.A. Noire should not have been nominated. Did you actually read the article or are you just a fanboy flaming?
And there are clearly issues with VGA nominations, or did you not notice that Need for Speed: The Run is up for best driving game?
It's unfortunate how much of a misunderstanding of "graphics" this has exposed.
I'm also not aware of any award that L.A. Noire has won for its "Graphics." It's all been technical achievement awards for MotionScan.
There are more to graphics than facial animation.
Wow.
Sure, if the award was "best facial animation." But then you look at pretty much any texture in L.A. Noire and you're reminded that it's certainly not one of the best-looking games of the year.
L.A. Noire could've been up for a Technical Achievement Award for MotionScan. Best Graphics? Not even close.
Scored all sorts of points with the Jazz Jackrabbit reference.
You're right, I have not played them, so I can't speak to that. I've certainly heard some crazy stories about the difficulty of ARMA
