it could stimulate the japanese market, but with the way Wii has taken over out there i'd be surprised if it had a huge enough boost in it to jumpstart a ps3 market. a lot comes down to how mgs performs, coz if that wont push sales in japan, FF wont fare much better.
i dont think sony is really trying out there because they are already dominating Microsoft. 8000-1000 sales though is hardly y'know like WOW though.

but also, these numbers are for predominantly 2007 when ps3 was just coming into the game. its like comparing an international side with the five aside team at your local pub. should anybody be reading this article. i'm fairly sure that you can assume ps3 is outselling ps2 by quite a margin, to the tune of about 30,000 sales each week.

so technically the games you mention are RPGS, they just happen to fall under other banners also. labels if you were, that are perhaps "more" correct.
ff7 is a good game, but ithink it gets its noteriety from being peoples first experience of the FF series, (i.e first FF on the original playstation)
yeah the graphics arn't great, but at the time they were alright/good along with everything else about the game compared with the market at the time.

with respect, the games market is not a good choice to invest in as companies costs for production mean they generally have to sell a great deal to recoup their losses.
i know the article tries to disuade from investing in certain consoles/handhelds but from what i understand: if you invest in the games industry, you'll be lucky not to get bitten.
