i disagree, ps3 was a mess @ launch. i dont think anybody believed sony could turn it round quite the way they have - and that stemmed from sony's insufferable arrogance.
kudos to them though, they won the format war, they've listened to gamers and they've worked hard on improving the system. personally i feel like i'm getting my money's worth: the only problem i have is the constant tirade of delays while devs perfect their games.

on topic: its easy to see why 60G was discontinued - cost. ps3 wouldn't even be close to competitive if sony had kept things the way they were. the system was too expensive and needed to compete with 360.
it doesn't however change that the 60G is the best SKU boasting both 99% BC and extra features. i doubt this model will ever be ref...
look at the screen hes playing it on, screen is brand new - with all the labels and stuff on it (look at sides of tele. to me that suggests that hes playing it in a store rather than at home.
dunno what this means. but could be that mgs4 has begun shipping to retailers already and hes playing one of them in store. makes more sense in my head!

but my point is that an 8 all depends on EDGES rating system.
personally i think a numbers a number as you say, its the written review that counts and i think edges written review was pretty good. too much stock placed in a number - i know why its done, for comparison / get a rough idea of the calibre of game, but its still shoddy IMO.

looks like a rent. vids actually look pretty good and hand to hand combat system sounds awesome. bit disappointed to hear about the shooting aspect mentioned in review but will see how this plays out in a rent.

you dont get 1080p & 120FPS on ANY ps3 games. he was being sarcastic canadian. i dont even think crysis on custom pc's can run @ 120FPS and its pretty much the "defining" game of this gen.
I'm a sony fan, i bought my ps3 for Final Fantasy and killzone, both of which were supposed to be out this year. both have been pushed back till '09. same with HOME, but then i was never really bothered about it. I feel let down, good for you if you dont.
