Hate to disagree with you Hideo. No one likes episodic anything; especially games. Episodic means only one thing: waiting... that's it. Sometimes for months. Sometimes for years.
I won't touch ANY game until it's complete. If you're releasing part one of a five part game, then your game is only one fifth of it's way through development and it's not even on my radar.
I hate episodic TV as well. I won't watch any show until I have a full ad-free season to binge on. Come to think of it, I don't/won't do ANY media that forces me wait.
I play religiously every day. I try to convert everyone I know into gamers. I think devs are saints and I aspire to be saintly as well. I am platform agnostic... I am open to playing on any system. The article is silly though.
Agreed and well said, but sometimes guys REALLY want/need to be the hero that saves the damsel in distress.
Maybe there ought to be the option to switch or mix up the roles/sexes.
Most game characters in general are exaggerated archetypes to make them more appealing; to look at, to control and to be.
Males characters are usually ridiculously overly muscular, super aggressive uber-indomitable caricatures of men. How would you sexualise a male character beyond that? I certainly wouldn't want to play as the power-suited metro-sexual alpha-type male that's regularly presented to me in popular culture as something we should aspire to be.
...
I don't think that's what it's about. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it's going to be a sci-fi trilogy.
Still, it's absolutely ridiculous. In the history of games, I think maybe Pong is about the only game to offer even less material to build the foundations for any kind of a narrative on.
I was sure for a few days after first reading about it that it was just a joke. I think it may still come out that we've all been had.
Sorry, that was one of the worst films I've ever seen.
Yes, me too please. Never played it the first time round... looking forward to it.
Excellent. I was worried that this was going to be a vr exclusive.
Why is this even a question? Who in their right mind WANTS to play a broken game? It seems to me that it's a dumb question and a no-brainer that no game should be released until it's finished. Every time a publisher snatches an unfinished game from a crunching dev, anger and stupidity ensues.
An announced release date is arbitrary and should be flexible. Is there ANY other product in the world you would expect a manufacturer to sell you by a certain date even if it's not ...
Uh huh... and... oh, that IS the story?
More one-title-per-page bullsh*t from clickvulture.
You're just yet another f*cking mouthy idiot who thinks his insignificant personal OPINION is the will of the masses. It's not, so STFU already.
@ jessigirlbro
Your subjective use of "factually" turns your sentence into a lie.
Also, your dismissal of the opinions of an overwhelming majority who disagree with yours as fanaticism plus your affection for "exclusives" suggests a serious narcissistic sociopathy.
You don't know WTF you're talking about. EVERY CoD has had a campaign. I have played every one. Half of the Battlefields have had campaigns as well. I don't give a f*ck about multiplayer so STFU dumbass.
Well said; I agree with every sentiment except that I strongly disagree with your last sentence.
So I guess We Happy Few decided to completely ignore the PS4. I can't even find a page clarifying why.
edit:
I really enjoyed Contrast on the PS3 but if it turns out that Compulsion took a bug hunk of cash from Microsoft to ignore the most lucrative platform (like Square Enix did with Rise Of The Tomb Raider), I will be playing a pirated copy of We Happy Few on the PC.
I don't know what the hell you're talking about. I've been a gamer in Canada for the last 35 years -games are already a ridiculous $80+tax each now and have never been that high. I refuse to pay that much for a game and I will continue to buy them used until some sanity returns to the market. Are you living in a rural area served by a single store or something? Because if you've been paying $100 or more for a game, you need to pay that vendor a visit... with a baseball bat. ...
Another announcement for an announcement. Stop doing that -it's just stupid.
@ Kreisen
I think you're dead-on about him being put into a corner (again)... this time by Sony.
