It likely won't even sell 20 million which is pretty disastrous and Nintendo seem to be rushing out its replacement. Nntendo will be looking for mainstream success with NX which was never possible with a niche and limited console like the Wii U.
VR needs more power to get the optimal high resolution and frame rates required. 4K is also the future. I think that one of the reasons that PS4 is more popular than Xbox One is the edge in graphical ability. I think the new PS4 will come late 2020, new Xbox a bit earlier. Sony are making so much money with PS4 they will be in no rush for PS5.
Great PS4 sales without many first party games and still lacking some basic functionality. 2016 should change all that. I think 20 million PS4 sales this year may be achievable.
I think that Sony has pretty much being in cruise control so far with not many first party games released and the console still lacking some basic functionality. However, with Sony looking to really step things up in 2016 I'm thinking 20 million console sales for the year may be possible. Should be an incredible year.
Hopefully, Sony have been pretty tone deaf so far and are running their own inexplicable agenda.
Loved L4D, the second one was a heavily censored mess of a game here in Australia. Really looking forward to the third one though.
From the article, 'Plus, Microsoft’s latest console has a far stronger line-up of exclusive titles this Christmas'.
Wow, the author has a crystal ball to know exactly what exclusives will definately be released late this year. Beyond stupid. And of course only Xmas exclusives matter, LOL. Ridiculous article.
My preference is late 2020 so the new consoles can run games in 4K and at high resolution and frame rate in VR.
Sony have said it will be priced as a new gaming platform so I am expecting $399US, the PS4 launch price, for the basic headset and about $469US for a camera and move controllers bundle.
You must be joking. Wii U has little breadth of game diversity outside of the stale old Nintendo franchises. Rinse and repeat, little innovation at all. Nintendo have no connection to reality. Wii U sales are appalling due to zero mainstream appeal. The Wii success was a one off. NX and Nintendo's thinking will have to be radically different to succeed.
Without good console sales third party support will be poor and Wii U sales and third party support has been poor.
But the Wii U doesn't have anywhere the diversity of games like the PS4 and Xbox One. It is a niche range of games for a console with limited appeal outside the Nintendo diehards. The NX will follow the Wii U to oblivion without strong third party game support.
I just don't get it. Sony has done such a great job in so many respects this gen but management are just mostly ignoring customers who have been very vocal over the last year or so about the lacking PS4 functionality. It's like they are complacent due to the massive console sales.
Most of the basic PS4 functionality that many gamers want has been listed in the Sony Blog Share for quite some time and it is annoying that Sony have chosen to mostly ignore suggestions whilst adding non-requested functionality. Sony are running their own inexplicable agenda.

Very good article. VR could be a real breakthrough and I can't wait to try it, hopefully with Project Cars.
I think PSvr will be a moderate success for PS4 and really take off for PS5. Price will be the key though. I can still see at least 2 million sold in 2016 which would be less than 5% of the forecast PS4 install base. There seems to be a lot of games in development for the device and my guess is that there will be 15-20 games at launch.
And for info, PSvr will come with an external processor box.

Because to some people only AAA releases count.
There will be some. My guesses:
- The Last Guardian.
- Rime.
- Gran Turismo Sport.
I owned a N64 and even then was annoyed with the limited range of software. N64 was great hardware though, for its time. However, I just can't see NX getting mainstream success as I don't think Nintendo are capable of bringing its capabilities up to the standard of PS4 and Xbox One re online and overall usability. And even if they do, and it launches late 2016, PS4 and Xbox One will be in their prime with steller game lineups and possibly cheaper priced hardware.
