Like review scores mean anything at all anyway :/
The only "perfect" games I can think of are FF7 and OOT. But perhaps that is because they were the first (3D) games to do so many things, meaning everything was new to me when I played them. Though there are other games from that era that I have played for the first time recently and thought "wow, this is so much better than new games!". For example, Tekken 3 plays so much better and smoother than any more ...
Nice review, properly touches upon the important points as to why Skyrim is amazing and highlights its flaws in good humour. Pretty much mentions all my thoughts.
Firstly, the dungeons in Skyrim are fantastic! And the world is extremely interesting too (I prefered the Morrowind world but not by much, mostly in style - so I guess that can't really count because they have a style that they have put themselves in a position to stick to).

Raging at a comment on kotaku there!
"If on a scale from 1 to 100 where 100 was amazing, the Skyrim UI gets a 65."
65? More like 5. Even on consoles it could be way better, it doesn't even have any icons - wtf? It pretty much ignores all aspects of good UI design, even for controller use it could be a lot better. Also, if you rebind keys then the UI lies about what keys need to be pressed (horrible programming of the worst magnitude; hard coded key check...
New vegas wasn't made by the same studio.
(almost) Any game that releases that closely after it's predecessor is going to be badly made or barely improved. (so, so many examples lol).
And anyway, Skyrim's launch has been bumpy on all platforms but the least bumpy on PC (sure, the ui makes no attempt to make use of the best input device ever invented for UIs - the mouse, but with a controller its identical to consoles in terms of input and a bit be...
"I haven't seen a truly innovative game in years"
I've seen loads, just not any big budget ones.
But sometimes innovation is not important at all. Just correcting an already done formula can make an amazing game. I think that highlights the misuse of the word innovative, loads of people apply it onto any game that they thought was really good - when infact the game was just developed really well. Nearly every idea that you could come up with...
"Graphics of the Decade, Technical -Uncharted 2: Among Thieves- "
what.... On consoles, yeah. But clearly not of the decade.
On the topic of great games this year that actually did something good. I dunno... minecraft? It technically launched 11/11/11... haha.
Can't think of any big budget/AAA games that actually did something new this year :(
Probably because doing something new is a huge financial risk so they...
Yeah :P
But not the eyes. They have had 5 years to fix the bug lol.
I never got to witness the glory of Morrowind bugs because I wound up playing it on Xbox first and experienced a world of crashes (and 15 minute load times) instead :D Though I guess they are bugs in a sense.
The author is right, but he is making himself out as a total a55hat.
Hmm... "will soon be the best version"
It already is :S
360 has the HDD streaming issue at the moment.
PS3 version has FPS issues and apparently becomes prone to crashes once the save gets large.
Now... I don't want to be an annoying elitist here but the author of the article already took the podium there; it seems he thinks th...
"not really,..people fake orgasms to make you happy while whoever made the fake map just wants to punk you"
This lol. +bubs to a few ppl.
It's funny because the former has a negative effect in the long run... psht, woman. :P
Not really. I knew it was set in SA 2 years ago. Obviously that would be a very good and likely guess if someone where to invent a rumour. But I heard it off somebody with direct connections to their Edinburgh studio on a night out (people say stupid things when drunk).
Sure, they will have been very careful - but it is impossible to 100% guarantee that it cannot be leaked.
Hell, the Realtime Worlds offices had greyed out windows but one of them was smashed o...
"There was no doubt that the map was fake, as Rockstar would not have allowed it. But still we have some proof for you below. Image error analysis over here, shows how heavily the image has been edited.
Please do not believe any GTA rumours as Rockstar will not allow it to be released on the web. Most likely whatever you see right now should be taken with a pinch of salt."
Ok, yeah the chance of the map being fake is about 99.999999% (otherwise they...
Every Bethesda game since/including Oblivion has had buggy eyes in one way or another and on one platform or another.
I like the way the poster didn't set it as the article image because he/she wouldn't get any hits. If you aren't going to pay for a domain name then don't expect any hits in the future anyway. Site+Story downrated. (please remember to do that guys, to stop n4g slipping in quality more than it already has. click on the site name below read full ...
You can if you bought the product (or affiliated with the product or service to which the TOS was changed) before they changed it.
"and it could lead to identity thief"
theft*
And no, it couldn't. L2Technology.
"Sad that the devs held the PC version back"
They will have done 80-95% of the work already :(
Artists don't work with silly low-res textures of course... But Bethesda will never, ever, release them because of silly business/management/publisher nonsense and the overall ignorance towards things that big publishers seem to have taken recently as they monetise the industry as much as possible (most likely the same reason the UI sucks, and why the ...
"4X the size of the original ones"
Damn... I guess they are all still really low res then :(
lol
"Kind of makes the wood look like cheap veneer or like plastic. Not a fan."
I agree, I've never used unofficial texture mods because they never look right. It's very hard and time consuming to properly make that many textures appear aesthetically pleasing and is a difficult task even for the original developer (...
"Xbox 360 gets an awesome dash"
PS3's dash is/was always great in the first place.
MS's continual dashboard updates annoy me because they always move more adverts and spam to the default selection and you have to move like 40 billion items to get to useful stuff.
I say that as a user of both consoles (though not in recent months, maybe for Halo anniversary and GTA5 :P).
Oops! Didn't realise it only applied to PSN content.
Should have read in more depth... Double fail from me today lol.
I _was_ thinking that it didn't make sense, cause how could people reliable buy 2nd hand games lol. I thought that was the secret reason behind their change.
Obviously downloaded games/content is not physical and so 90% of what I said is irrelevant. Hell, this would be on BBC news if it was what I thought it was.
Nice comment. Much sense was made here :P
"Portal was fun in the Orange Box, but I wouldn't buy a whole game version of it."
I did, and was massively dissapointed. It was clearly made just to grab a load of cash quickly and provide some light entertainment. Same goes for L4D2... Silly Valve jumping on the cash-cow bandwagon :(
I mean, they were in no way bad. But... they just didn't do it for me. The guns in L4D2 felt horrible compar...
