What is "far from crappy".
I could not thing of a worse way for Skyrim's menus to work on PC. Maybe crappy would be an upgrade. Infact, the PC UI is where most of the game's bugs reside (especially if you rebind keys).
Huh? I dunno, I think it's like 10 times buggier than Oblivion was. Something bugs out in nearly every environment. Usually though, it's something silly like characters getting stuck or the physics spazzing out. Also the UI on PC is permenantly bugged (obviously not tested AT ALL because the bugs are immediately noticable and heavily irritating), but once you know what the bugs are you can stop them happening. For example, if you try to wait... press "e" like it asks and the...
There is "lag" on all versions except higher end PCs.
The frame rate seems to suffer massively if there is a mere 1 particle on screen lol.
Well... 1080p is enough. Once a screen fills enough of your FoV and you can't see individual pixels, the resolution is plenty.
If you want to game on a screen designed for TV and film then good luck expecting resolutions higher than 1080p (and decent input delays...). 1080p will not go out of date for 20-30 years because people are never going to have >100" TVs as standard lol. For TV and Film, 1080p will always be enough (unless we suddenly start having MASSIVE l...
"as long as the game they come with is good"
Sense is being made!
But yeah. The current gen consoles do have creative limitations in terms of large scale AI and Physics because of their limited RAM.
Also, it is extremely hard to program an engine capable of producing the current standard of graphics on consoles, so many developers are totally locked out of the market - even if the games they make are incredible in every way apart fr...
I can see an epic leap between consoles and my 3 year old PC.
And "Looking at this year's blockbuster releases which saw magnificent looking games like Uncharted 3 and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim"
Skyrim? What? The graphics may be good on consoles but it barely stands up to, well, any recent PC game at all. Not that it matters anyway because it's Elder Scrolls and is awesome anyway. Seriously though, some of the textures are laughably bad even b...
Yeah, 2GB of RAM places it firmly in the casual arena.
Chances are though that it will just cause multiplats to be dumbed down.
I play PC games today that use a lot more than 2GB (the actual game process, not overall system RAM usage).
Also, voxel based rendering and scene graphs will become increasingly common and that requires LOADS of RAM. I believe Crysis mentioned somewhere that they wish for next gen consoles to have at least 8GB.
"Consoles are not computers...they don't need the specs that computers do"
What about the original XBOX? It had components that were extremely similar to PC parts.
Obviously nobody is expecting the 720 to have standard PC parts, but the architecture and chip designs that PCs use are extremely appropriate to gaming in this day and age. The 360 and PS3's designs were the right thing to do when they were made (sort of), times change - PC hardwa...
Dual GPU makes sense but I dunno about a hex core CPU.
Why dual GPU? Because one high-end GPU would make far too much heat in a concentrated area to be vented by console cooling solutions. For it to work, the consoles would have to be larger and/or louder. 2 middle-spec GPUs could be far enough away to allow a more effective cooling solution. Also, in PCs it is often cheaper & more powerful to have 2 mid-end graphics cards rather than 1 high end; and that is duplicating a...
I didn't buy Blops or this.
I played Blops on a Steam free weekend and did everything I would have been bothered with in all that time. If I had bought it, I would have only played it that much anyway.
CoD is always fun for a while, but then you realise you could just be playing the previous CoD game that you already own :/ So it tends to be money wasted (they should have fixed MW2 like any self-respecting develper would).
You will probab...
I noticed that CoD4 had the best hit detection (didn't play the earlier ones enough online to comment, but they were probably fine too).
Played it a lot on 360 and on PC.
The strange thing is, even with dedis Blops had crap reg on PC whereas there was a visible improvement with the reg between P2P and dedis with CoD4 that I played a lot (about 30 days in-game time :O).
MW2 had "OK" reg on PC, which was P2P. But I would say it wa...
"I'm always getting shot in the back"
This ^ is why I have gone of CoD.
Give me MW1 or CoD 2 maps any day. And no, I don't want to pay for them again... lol
Didn't climb any vertical cliffs did he? He's not as epic as my horsie then :D
So much fail in that article lol.
But yeah, Halo ^_^ masterpiece.
"*sigh* some people this gen are just hopeless. I'll take a guess, you barely started gaming this gen and the 360 was probably your first console. Age 12-15."
So many people like that!
And they will probably never play Morrowind because "the graphics are bad" or something :(
Yeah lol.
I always seem to judge games really well too. I can usually tell if I am going to like a game or not from about 1min of gameplay footage, some developer/publisher propoganda at E3 or something (u can hear the doubt in their voices lol) and a few screenshots. I always find a way to have a try of a game that I suspected of being bad, incase it's actually great and I miss out or something... as of yet, I havn't needed to reverse an opinion.
On ...
TBH MW3 only deserves 9/10 because CoD4 deserves 9/10.
So yes, I agree, it's a good game... and I can see how it could end up earning a high review score. But on another point, they are just selling the same thing again for full price. So it should be given 5/10 or even 1/10 as a matter of justice.
As a buyers guide, any review that doesn't say it's worthless is lieing.
As a metric of how good the game is, sure. It is good, 8/10, 9/10... f...
GTA4 improved many things and then didn't put enough extra content in or interesting variations in the environment (LC in GTA3 had far more varied gameplay). Though I noticed that there were suped up cars driving around and I found closed modding garages that seemed to be designed for player use but couldn't be accessed (and weren't used for any missions or anything like that). Time restraints and development complexities could have been one reason.
Also the missi...
It shouldn't be called e-sports, that's a daft name.
I always call it competitive gaming... because that's what it is.
I think some big company somewhere decided to market it as e-sports and went and made it sound more naff than it really is :P
You should see the insane level of skill that some of the top CS, Quake or SC players have though :O
On an unrelated note:
Most people will NEVER be able t...
"Modern Warfare 3 is the best multiplayer game out there period."
That opinion is impossible, because it is just a worse Modern Warfare.
Worse hit detection.
Worse maps.
Worse guns.
Some.... perks? (what else changed since MW1?) They are just some little script that changes a few tiny things about some game actions, they don't count as anything that actually makes the game what it is. If they let the gameplay act...
